Whew! You actually meant "old people". For a moment I thought you might be targeting me (well, folks my age). Based on that post, I'm still young (54).

Like an old timer told me when I was young, just more stuff to break.

I had my '70 Duster best 44.7 MPG on a strict mileage run, but still get near 40 daily driving. It had a mildly built 225, 2-bbl conversion, OD 4-speed, and something called the Power Plate under the carb. That plate not only boosted fuel economy, but it added a serious boost in power.

On the flip side, my ex-wife is 15 years OLDER than me. Famous Broadway Basso, Frank Basile, was married to Academy Award winning actress, Celeste Holme. She was 38 years Frank's senior at her passing.

Shoot, I even converted our Jeep Grand Cherokee to 5-speed.

That makes sense, as the generator probably spins at either 1800 or 3600 RPM; the "sweet spot" range. The /6 probably makes more usable power at 1800 RPM than a 340!

Ten more minutes till quitting time. Maybe then we'll see the 6-pack.

This harkens back to the golden age of Hot Rodding when a car might have a Lincoln engine, Buick grill, Pontiac tail lights, etc. I'm guessing the engine choice was partially influenced by a great deal on the purchase. I'm rooting for you. At least you're not butchering a perfectly good 1968...
