    thermostat removal

I already had one thermo that was junk. Had to buy another. I do have a milwaulkee IF heat gun I can use. The folks at griffin radiator built the shroud to fit tight and installed the two fans on the shroud. They told me that the radiator would cool the heck out of the car. They even...

    thermostat removal

I have a 416 stroker 340. I have a griffin radiator with custom built griffin shroud and twin electric fans. Edelbrock heads and doug headers. They other day I drove a bit. It was about 93 degrees. My autometer temp guage crept up to 210 and I was getting a little nervous. I have a 160...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

OK UPDATE. I think I got it. I am passing this info on as I think it is worthy of sharing. What I found was that all three of the bottom radiator hoses that I ordered from 3 different companies were all way out of the proper shape and spec to be a direct fit in my car. What I found out was...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

I have already tried a 369.00 aluminum exact same radiator and tried the mopar 7 blade stock fan for a a/c car. Bought a brand new clutch assembly with the shorter center. I couldn't even get the bolts to go in the fan thru the pulley Finally I got shorter bolts and fudged them in and all...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

Well, took her out for a ride today which was a little longer. It was about 92 degrees here today. I ended up in traffic for 4 or 5 miles just stop and go. Temperature gauge climbed up to right about 210 degrees or maybe a tad higher which got me nervous. But then it seemed to just level...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

OK folks. All fixed. Bought the better stainless steel spal sending unit which is 3/8" thread. Got rid of the stupid reducing bushing and went straight in the manifold with the 3/8" Spent time trimming and fitting that bottom radiator hose. Filled the griffin radiator with the evans coolant...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

OK. So today I rechecked all my wiring. All correct. I talked to Spal again. What they told me is that the sender that was included in the fan relay package was not their sender?? I called Griffin and they have now confirmed that even though the Spal relay box says it comes with a Spal 3/8"...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

So, maybe I should change the sending unit to the on at 200 and off at 185. They sell that one? I have no idea why they Griffing radiator gave me the 185-165 sender with the combo kit I bought? Odd?

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

I think mine is 65. Chrome alternator. If I have issues I will just trade it up for a 100 amp version. I will keep posting here until I get it right and let you guys know what I find. I fixed the battery negative cable so tomorrow I am going to go for a short cruise and get a new inspection...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

Don't drive this car at nights and heater is not used as car is stored in the winter. Radio is solid state and a/c compressor is a new sanden compressor which hardly draws any big amps? Car has a high flow mechanical fuel pump? So I do not think that alternator amperage draw is the problem.

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

OK. All that sounds like things I need to recheck. Especially the 185 degree off and 200 on. I don't know where I read the 165 off but I will recheck that. I kind of thought the 165 off seemed rather cool considering most normal cars operate at about 180-190. So I will also check that and...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

I spoke with Griffin radiator today. Customer service told me that they recommend installing the 185 degree temperature sending unit into the drain **** post on the lower tank of the radiator. She said the install on top the intake manifold may be creating adverse higher temperatures which...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

Why do you think I supplied this Post to Abodies?? There is another issue that I have not checked yet. When installing this whole thing, I failed to re-install a grounding wire from the front light harness and I also noticed that the terminal end of my black negative battery cable which is...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

My two 10" fans have what Griffin calls a true CFM rating of 898 per fan. So we are at about 1800CFM and the radiator has two 1" cooling tubes. The shroud is custom fit to the radiator with 8 rubber flaps which are forced open as the car gains speed. As stated earlier. I have not driven the...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

Yes, I bought it as a package from Griffin radiator. They told me it would run real nice as built. $1200.00 was a lot of money but I like to keep my money in American labor when I can. And regarding CFM flow of a fan, you have to be able to also factor in the tightness of the louvers and...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

I only asked the question because I am smart enough to know that anybody on here with answers has at one time learned them from someone else, correct? I did say in my post that I have yet to take the car on the road. So thanks for all the good answers and no thanks to the answers that have no...

Griffin radiator and twin fans still running at 190-200?

Hi Guys, I installed what griffin calls a direct fit aluminum radiator with the custom built aluminum shroud and 2 spal 10" fans. Came with 2 relays. So, I wired the two fans placing the ground wires for each fan in a different location. I then wired the fan supply to the red feeds from each...

    340 electric fan size?

Question is if I install a shroud on my US Radiator and put a 16" spal fan, does the fan have to be offset, of can I just put it in the center of the aluminum shroud, which would be offset from the engine by about 2"? Would I be better off with the one 16" fan or I understand I can fit 2 10"...

    new rebuild startup and thermostat?

Ya, but the Evans stuff wants all the water out. So I figured I would just put the Evans coolant in and go with that. But at 45.00 per gallon, I really didn't want to loose it re-installing the thermostat. As it is, my engine builder left the block coolant plug out of the block. I found...

    new rebuild startup and thermostat?

    a/c heat defrost vent hoses
