A lot of lights are incredibly bright, but what peaves me even more is the inconsiderate ones who have the high power lights then run the high beams IN TOWN!

What is the shunt made of? How did you determine size?

Not if it is a dual ballast resistor, you could have a good run side but a bad start side. could be switch, wiring/bulkhead connectors, or ballast. Check for power in start at coil, bulkhead, and switch. That will allow you to isolate the problem, you might even see a lose/bad connection while...

I have a crimper made by Packard elec. div. G.M.C. P/N 12085270. Makes perfect "w" crimps, and will actually crush solid copper if you load to big of wire.

Belt and suspenders. You will never have TOO good of ground, just like you can never have too many outlets.

If you use a single diode you use the current flowing one way and the current flowing the other is not used (not consumed), if you use a bridge rectifier ( 4 diodes ) the sine wave is folded back on itself and you get to use it all as DC.

More heatsinks. The second heat sink down (4th pic) is also drilled at the right spacing for HEI.

I have an assortment of heat sinks if anyone is interested in them for an HEI conversion. Pics below. The sheet aluminum one has broached bolt holes spaced right for a 4 pin HEI module.

12 volts is a dead battery, fully charged it should be at least 12.6

Does the flywheel spin when the starter cranks? Could the flywheel have come loose from the crank? Did you use the correct flywheel bolts?

Also check chassis ground! If you have no chassis ground, evrything will check out ok if you go to batt. ground for your tests but nothing will work.Try a jumper from batt. ground to a fender bolt for a test.
