    engine still not cool enough

I know some guys don't particularly care for this stuff, and there may be a different problem that needs addressing......BUT, I had the same chronic problem on my Demon......I used the original "Water Wetter" brand, and a 160 degree stat........From that point, I never had another problem...

New problem for me to figure out

Oh boy............Problem.............. I've had this happen, and had to clean the threads the best I could (flat bottom), and then I made a slightly shorter bolt......... If I remember correctly, I took off just under a quarter inch (about 3/16) with the bench grinder, nice and...

Guys.........my buddy's 78 Volare Wagon with A/C just quit blowin' wind....... It popped back on just once like an intermittent short, but now nothing.......The blower motor does not seem to be on the firewall like the earlier models......... Can anyone tell us what to do to properly test...

    Heater core

The only way it could cause trouble is if you have an inline thermostatic flow control on it or something similar.......... I've done it before and haven't had a serious issue.....maybe someone else can chime in with their experience............8)

    New Cooling/fan question

That missing shroud will iad overheating even on the highway....been there, done that.....you need a shroud......and aside from your stat, which could definitely be causing you grief (along with a high volume pump), it sounds like you're just plain crudded up in there. If you had NO problems...

    Purple Ice? Water Wetter?

So, I guess it works, huh? Isn't that somethin. You can contend all day long about what my car did or did not have or do. The bottom line is that no one knows the individual car better than the owner who drives it, and who built it. Your car, my car, he said she said........doesn't...

    Purple Ice? Water Wetter?

Let me be brief.....in a perfect world, your thermostat will regulate the proper temp of your coolant....but, we don't live in a perfect world. My Demon's coolant system WAS working properly......like so many others, under normal operating conditions, all is well. But when you add 90+ degree...

    Purple Ice? Water Wetter?

Water wetter works really good.......It was like getting a new radiator for my Demon.......no comparison......definitely worth the dough.

    Heater Line Disconnect.....

Would there be any benefit to looping the connections, as suggested? Would there be a bit better cooling to the intake inlet, or any better circulation overall by leaving them looped together? No benefit? :read2:

    Heater Line Disconnect.....

Guys......... I have no need for my heater in Florida, and want to clean up the engine bay of the unwanted hoses........I'm going to do a simple disconnect and outer plug on the firewall (after blowing out the core), and I want some advice on the Intake/Water Pump connections...

    running too cold

I'm over in Zephyrhills, and with my Demon, the temp. is the same as what you state for yours..........However, I put in a bottle of "water-wetter" with the coolant, which dropped it about 5 degrees overall, and I have a 160 degree thermostat in it......this afternoon, I'm putting my 180 back in...

    72 A/C Low Side Valve

Well said........I appreciate it......... Correct on the compressor........the old valve inside the original fitting is shot.....the o-ring is smaller than any I have, and the valve, when extracted, is also looking very old and tired (and a little bent..............kinda like me when I get...

    72 A/C Low Side Valve

I have to miss it this year.....there's a big Chamber of Commerce event here in Z-Hills that Saturday that I'm committed to.......MIGHT be possible on Friday, but I doubt it.............. Just to be clear, the proper valve conversion set-up will screw in directly to the comp. head like the...

    72 A/C Low Side Valve

Aside from buying an entire "kit" to convert a system, is there a proper `134a low side valve available that will screw directly into the original hole?

    72 A/C Low Side Valve

I have an original 1972 A/C system in the Demon, which was previously converted to 134a. I've never done a conversion, in fact, I recently brought it up in a thread and asked some questions. Deciding not to monkey with it, I booked the car at our pro-shop for an A/C service........I...

    Heater Box Removal?

Whatever you do during this removal, do NOT lay upside down on your front seat and slide yourself under the unit for easier access.......... You'll find the physical benefits of attempting such a brainy shortcut are not what I would call "pleasant". :burnout:

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

I guess that's what we may be up against...........(?)........... How much dough do you suppose it's going to cost to have the system sucked out and recharged properly? :|

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

We fixed the vacuum problem, just as stated in a preceeding post........dash works a-ok now..........BUT, the compressor did not cycle at all in a/c mode. I hot wired the compressor, and it worked fine.......I cycled it a bit, then hooked up a 134a can and gauge...........after discovering an...

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

If his is the case, HOW do you get the new refrigerant into the system?..........Unless I'm missing something, the compressor needs to be on in order for there to be suction at the low pressure side for a recharge...............???? Sounds like a catch-22...................... :read2:

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

Check this out........I think the canister has something to do with the emissions baloney........ BOTH of the vacuum lines from the firewall go into the can........this makes absolutely NO SENSE to me.................... My dash needs vacuum.........if someone has the know how, let us know...

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

Now we're totally confused.............. The dash actuators for the heat and a/c venting is supposed to be vacuum operated................correct?.................sure looks so. Problem is that we can locate only ONE vacuum inlet/outlet anywhere on the firewall that could possibly feed the...

    A/C Compressor Won't Kick On

I've got the system ready to charge with 134a, and I can't get the compressor to kick on..........The wire from the compressor hecks out as far as I can get to the edge of the firewall......no problems........ Fuse is OK, BUT in my wiring diagram, I note that the heater runs off the same...

134 Conversion Kits Safe for Old Mopars?

Now that I've located the correct seal kit for the 72 Demon A/C, I'm wondering if any of you guys have experience with the 134 refrigerant conversion kits.............. Are there any issues to consider using the kits with our original air systems? :-k

Guys.........am I wasting my time looking for an actual complete kit for my 72 Demon A/C system (small block), or does someone offer it? Maybe I'm half blind or somethin'.....I can't find any kits...... This system works well.......I detailed the engine bay, and repainted the lines and...

Heater box, core, fan and control removal

I believe you can take it apart piece by piece from the inside by first removing your glove box liner (take off the door, then remove the liner).............this will give you more ease in sight and subsequent removal. There are a number of thin steel clips that hold the 2 halves of the box...
