    the third gear is the weakest gear, in a four speed trans, i knew a racer did his burnouts in 3 rd gear, kept breaking 3rd gear. we used a 1600 # b&b/long pressure plate in 340 car, had no problems breaking gears , with a series 300 disc. used in drag car. just food for thought

    you can run the B&B/long clutch from mcloed, at 1800 base with a rag disc will work very well. friend had a1600 base one in his 360, ran low 12 sec, wirth slicks

    first off, you have a very aggressive clutch, that will break parts, the 18 spline is stronger,, just food for thought

    the 1967 to 1972 ford pickups used a dana 60 with passenger axles, 5 on 4 1/2 they are lighter, splines are 30, same as a 8 3/4 have to change front yoke to mopar style

    late 1965, they installed 8 3/4 in 65, a bodies, i have an original letter from NHRA /mopar, allowing the change. it was for 235/273 only . i installed a 1968 8 3/4 in my 65 dart,bolted right in.

    the dana 60 from 1/2 ton fords were made same as a passenger car, no floating axles. change to 8 3/4 ends and use your axles, 30 spline

    look for a dana 60 out of a 1967 to 72 ford 1/2 ton pickup. it has passenger axles and brakes, it's way lighter . about same as a 8 3/4 .change ends to mopar and use your axles, both have 30 splines. just food for thought.

    take a fine file and file across the edge of ring gear, if it digs in , it's a pro gear, means it's soft. street gear the file will sail across it , not dig in. do not use a grinder!!!

    Dana 60 donor

    when I installed my pickup dana 60, under my A body, I used the stock 8 3/4 axles and brake setup. axles were made for a body, they fit great!! 1 3/4 brakes by 10". my after market axles were made with big bolt pattern.

    Richmond gear, told us, never to run gears on stands, it causes hot spots on gears. they have to be run under load!!! the gears are slapping each other on free run like that. prob how the howl got started!! I hope your end play is about back lash?? should be at .010. this is ring gear lash.

    hi, yes they are the same. is it one from a 1/2 ton ford ? 8 3/4 ends will fit up to tubes. we used a dana 60 from 1/2 ton ford, changed the yoke to a 1350, put 8 3/4 ends on it.

    hi, I cut ends off, welded mopar 8 3/4 ends on and shorten same width as my 8 3/4. I had a 35 spline spool and used my brakes and axles. shorten drive shaft about 3/4 inch. I also changed to a 1350 yoke on front. just food for thought
