Picked up a 65 Valiant now fun begins

check base of front pillars for bubbling paint. And inside cowls for sure but not much can be done with those without major work. I'd not mess with a B/RB in that again, Little gain on that platform.

65 'Cuda Interior vs Exterior Paint

I got a silver and black interior. And my last had a black interior too. the paint code breaks down the interior and exterior paint.

    1964 Plymouth Valiant Build/Restoration Thread

Check Into an aluminum 66ish Mustang radiator. See if the spuds are on the correct side (no idea what year motor you have) and you can get them pretty cheap used as there are about 500x more 66 mustangs on road than 64 Valiants! The 3 pin neutral safety switches can be adapted. Just use the...

Modern Drivetrain Swap into '65 Valiant

i think @slantsixdan debunked the slant heritage on the 2.0/2.x ohc fours but they are great motors. i has a 2.0 in a Breeze and i'd still be driving that wide car if the trans didnt start leaking and the paint didnt start peeling! But the V6 version in the Cirrus was the ticket: fast and...

My first Mopar: 1965 Plymouth Barracuda

complete cars are high on my list, heck you even got 2 decent headlight bezels! Whats the chance that woodgrain steering wheel is crack free under that rubber wrap? Get some seat back "toppers" made (like arm wrest covers) for the back seat (or just fold it down and forget about it!) some tilex...

Yeah, maybe arch it right up to that body line and run SS springs so they will never touch it. Yours looks already clear of that lip...straight axle style the front for a gasser look? They sure are light....

    64 Dart

Ltt me know how those J-bars go in, they are on my Christmas list! They have shock mount tabs too. Racing that Dart, I'd cut the rear fender lips out and contour 'em like the Hemi under glass...Whole lot easier than tuckin' them in under that infernal lip unless you got that figured out too.

    64 Dart

Place trans in and then mock up tunnel. The only interference on a 727 in that chassis is the pinch weld at the mouth of the tunnel, I just pounded it it flat with a BFH but everything was tight after that. If you run the 727, just fab the pan over the trans in place. No prob there. Consider...

    64 Dart

They look to be 5208's (should be stamped on flange) highly sought after but are a little small for a 408. Go with plan B 904. fits alot better and is quicker with less rotating mass. Its a light car, doesnt need a 727 IMHO.

    64 Dart

already looking good! Tubs wont help much unless you pull the springs inboard. Kinda looks like you did already from this angle... Hooker 5208s? Check port size, they (mine) didnt seal on a larger port 340 head with their lame "O-ring sealing". You can graft a 340 flange onto them/

Does driver quality count as a resto?

Looks restored to me! Usually restored means to restore to original specifications, ie motor, paint interior...F that. Build it the way you want. If that is factory, great..you can now have it judged by pompous know-it-alls who will ding you for radials. Build it to your taste and the only judge...

    1969 Dodge Dart Engine Stutter

with the battery being cycled to death a number of times, it will be low on reserve amps. May wanna get that load tested at O'reillys or somewhere they can put a carbon pile on it. Old friend said every time a car battery goes dead, it loses 7% of its storage capacity. If those resistor coils...

    1969 Dodge Dart Engine Stutter

The VR is a switch that opens and closes the battery voltage to the alternator. By jumping that connection (just bypassing the entire black box with a jumper wire and 2 clips to the ends) you are running the alternator at "wide open throttle" and it will COOK your battery like a tea kettle left...

    1969 Dodge Dart Engine Stutter

Ha, hey don't run on no juice either! Unless its a 5.7 diesel..Rob, are those mechanical pumped? I think those could run if jumped and the alternator and battery were carted off.

    1969 Dodge Dart Engine Stutter

get alternator checked, could be a bad voltage regulator, both are pretty cheap in the scheme of things. I dont think the car would stutter with 12v as the coil routinely runs on 9. What carb? Backfires can damage certain carbs (Holley 2300,4150-60) Carb may be loading up with fuel. Check the...

    Help installing 1965 Barracuda carpet

Most all carpet kits will be about 1-2" oversized on unfinished edges where there is no edge stitching, ie door sills. The rear cargo area stainless trim needs to come out, its all just screwed in, easy. lay it out and let it sun bake outside and inside the car if possible before you put the...

    Doppelganger

That was the color of my 65 when I bought it...even thought the fender tag said it was 'N' "Barracuda silver". Under the copper paint was an aqua blue color...primer? Its Sunburst silver now, as close to Barracuda Silver poly that I could get stocked at the paint shop. Your copper looks better!

    1965 Valiant 200

Man that would have taken me 5 years! Trick wing nut on your MC! Question: the placement of your fender tag. is everyone else's there too? Mines been off for so long that I forgot where it came from. I thought my 65 Barracuda was on the passenger inner fender?

    WTF build thread...

I almost raced a friends 66 bug with a 2180 in it light to light with my 340 '65 Barracuda. He insisted there had to be $100 on it. I saw him take off and said nope. He was half the weight and more than half my HP. Maybe on a 1/4 mile but not a 1/8 mile like out lights were. Learn to say when....
