    Total Timing 5.9 Magnum

I would think at sea level it would want a little less timing cause of the air being thicker and at higher elevation it could handle a little more timing cause of the air being thinner

    Total Timing 5.9 Magnum

where do the 5.9 magnums run best with total timing? I've been told they like 30-32 total timing because of the more efficient chambers of the magnum heads. And I've been told they like 34-35 total timing. I'm running a 300hp crate 360 magnum, I was running a modified Mopar performance...

    Castrol synthetic or Valvoline?

I would run valvoline synpower over Castrol syntec and I would run 5w-30 over 10w-30 in a 360 magnum. I'm running Mobil 1 0w-40 in my 360 Magnum, prior to running the 0w-40 I was running valvoline synpower 5w-30 and it was great oil, ran nice and smooth and quiet on the synpower. And synpower...

    Figuring out Dynamic compression

That makes sense, so with every cylinder reading 150psi at my elevation of 4000 feet above sea level, what would the reading be at sea level? I've been told the thinner air at 4000 feet above sea level will put out a lower cranking psi on the gauge vs if it were at sea level.

    Figuring out Dynamic compression

It's a 300hp crate 360 magnum, still has the same camshaft that came in the engine. Advertised compression ratio is 9.0:1 Cam specs are same as what abodybomber shared.

    Figuring out Dynamic compression

So do you have an idea of what the factory dynamic compression ratio is on a 5.9 magnum?

    Figuring out Dynamic compression

I've got a 300hp crate 360 magnum in a 91 short bed 4x4 truck. Im curious as to what the dynamic compression ratio is on this engine. I live at 4000 feet above sea level, and when doing a compression test with the engine at operating temp and the carb wide open I get 150psi across the board on...

    Milling magnum heads

I haven't measured the compression of this engine. But the paper work that came with the engine states it has 9.0:1 compression ratio. I already have gears, 4.56s and it did help no doubht, but I guess I was expecting a little more then what I got. So what type of converter should I be looking...

    Milling magnum heads

how much would have to be taken off iron magnum heads to gain 9.5:1 compression? I was thinking that having .030 shaved off the heads and running a .028 thick head gasket would net at least 9.5:1 or maybe even 9.7:1. Reason I'm asking is I am trying to figure out a way to squeeze some more...

    V-belt pulleys

no apology nessasery, you've been a lot of help to me. So I went to Napa to get the older style Saginaw pump and pulled it out of the box and realized it takes a threaded on pulley? I've never seen a threaded on ps pump pulley, mine has always been pressed on and off. So I couldn't get that...

    V-belt pulleys

So what style pump do I need?
  16. P

    V-belt pulleys

Oh and I forgot to mention I confirmed that the ps pump pulley is not bent or tweeked and it is installed Correctly. It's on the ps pump shaft perfectly. So this issue is not the ps pump pulley. Like I've said before I'm beginning to think it's because this engine is a crate 360 magnum with the...

    V-belt pulleys

I know these power steering brackets I bought are th correct brackets for the pump I am running. The pump I am running is a Saginaw style pump that came on the mid to late 70s small blocks in the dodge trucks. The brackets I took off are the exact same as the brackets I bought new, only...

    V-belt pulleys

Im amazed more people haven't ran into this issue when doing magnum swaps into cars and running the la timing cover and water pump and pulleys. I can't be the only one, I'm thinking this has to be an issue with ether the heads not being as thick or thicker or the block not being the same depth...

    V-belt pulleys

Yes the triangular piece is in the correct place. I was told by someone else that the brackets need to be spaced out towords the radiator because as it sits now the pulley isn't inline with the crank pulley. For whatever reason? I'm thinking it must be the thickness of my harmonic balancer...

    V-belt pulleys

I have a 99 Durango with the 360 magnum that we bought for parts and I already pulled the alternator and the power steering pump and all the brackets and tensioners and pulleys and the water pump and timing cover. Although I'd most likely buy a new water pump and ps pump and alternator I have...

    V-belt pulleys

A guy I had look this over told me that every bracket that touches the engine and the water pump need to be spaced out a little bit to get the ps pump pulley inline with the crankshaft pulley. So that's what I'm going to try next, if that doesn't work then I'm converting to serpentine.

That's because it says right on then instructions this bracket kit will work With both Saginaw and federal Style power steering pumps.

    V-belt pulleys

Well I stacked some washers behind that bolt we talked about and it didn't solve the issue, the pump is still sitting **** eyed when it's mounted up. I'm totally lost as to what the issue is here, and beyond frustrated.

    V-belt pulleys

I can't believe this brand new set of brackets didn't have a spacer at that spot for that reason cause it's clearly sitting **** eyed to the crankshaft pulley. I showed the pics to another guy on another site trying to get his opinion and he seems to think I need to space all of the brackets out...

    V-belt pulleys

Ok never mind I just went and took some pics I'll post below and you guys tell me if this is the bolt your talking about that needs some washers stacked there to act as a spacer cause there wasn't a spacer there which is strange cause there is spacers behind the other two bolt hole locations.
  26. P

    V-belt pulleys

the bracket does have a little spacer built on to it right there, I'll take a picture of it and post it. You thinking it's not enough spacer and I should try stacking some washers right there? There is three bolt holes to mount the bracket to the pump body and they all have little spacers built...

    V-belt pulleys

My wife looked at it and said she thinks the pulley is on crooked on the pump. But I don't see how or why it would be throwing the belt off so far

    V-belt pulleys

I'm starting to wonder if the 360 magnum blocks are just different and things don't line up the way they do on la 318s and 360s. I just don't get this issue its bizzar and I've been fighting with it for years now. I finally get the right pulleys crankshaft and water pump cause I did have some...

Brackets are brand new. Thats why I listed saying I need help, I don't understand what's causing it. I just installed brand new ps pump brackets.

So what do I do? Pull out the pulley puller and push it on further or pull it out some?
