    More 3.6 carnage

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. All those motors look great on paper, more hp and mileage. And yet all I’ve heard is “if” they can get past 100k now, trade it in and pass it off to someone else. My 03 dakota with a 3.9 v6, bought it brand new, now has 395,000 miles. Uses oil so I have to...

    Axles

500hp on street tires versus big sticky tires is a big difference on how long parts hold up. Weight is a factor too

Not an A body. A fun Dakota build

Cool build. 8.25’s are fairly strong. If upgrading to a limited slip, upgrade to 29 spline axles. Up to 96 they were 27, 97-04 they’re 29. Look up www.doctordiff.com Not sure if the oem 29 spline axles from the 97-up are the same length as your 1st gen, maybe after market. Will be...

Richard Holdener starting to doing some 2.2L DODGE TURBO dyno testing.

And lets not forget the Dodge M4S from the movie The Wraith. Twin turbo 2.2 450hp top speed of 190 mph. Very cool car

Richard Holdener starting to doing some 2.2L DODGE TURBO dyno testing.

About 15 years ago I watched a guy racing his 80’s daytona with that turbo 2.2. Was running low 10’s. He did a rwd conversion because he got tired of rebuilding the transaxle all the time. I guess like anything, they can run real good with the right setup and combination

Ok fellas...318 help needed , Mpg , reliability and enough power ***for a big boat !!!

Nv3500 would be my choice. For reference, my 03 dakota 3.9v6 with nv3500 3.23 gears 29” tires and weighs 3800 empty, I get 20mpg at 70 all day. A 318 would move my truck around even easier and probably get the same mileage. I’d keep the 318 and put in the nv3500. Stock cam or very small...

Lets make the best real world *MPG* THREAD EVER !!

My 68 barracuda with a fairly worn 318, stock cam, stock heads with 340 valve springs, performer intake,670 holley, dougs headers, 904 with 2800 stall, 3.23 gears and 26” tire will still get around 16-17 mpg at 60. 2003 dakota with 3.9 5spd, 3.23 with 29” tires and 375,000 miles still gets...

    Found my A-body....

Dr Diff.com upgrade to some 29 spline axles, oem tracloc limited slip and some 3.23-3.55’s. Great improvement even with a stock converter for a stock size tire and can cruise still at 65mph

Thoughts on a mid size pickup?

03 dakota. 3.9 5spd manual 2wd. Bought new, 322,000 miles and 20 mpg. Uses some oil, but damn reliable. Changed the timing chain at 180,000 and the original clutch at 274,800.

Is anyone else "touchy" about their Mopar? (long rant...)

This thread gave me a chuckle and hit close to home. At the last coffee and cars I went to, I was amazed at the critiscism and near scorn because I was running the original 318 in my 68 barracuda. Yes my car has 3 different shades of faded primer and green. Yes my 318 uses a little oil. It's...

    74 318 barracuda whiplash dyno ?

At least put some 360 1.88/1.60 valves and a good valve job in the heads or that is the biggest restriction. How far in the hole are those pistons?

Need advice for all-around truck that can tow

My dad's 93 3/4 ctd 4x4 with 5spd is still going strong and still pulls his boat or car trailer and nova wherever and whenever he wants. He's the original owner and 99% of it's life has been used in towing and not as a daily driver. The original Getrag is long gone an been replaced by a nv4500...

How did you become a Mopar A-body Enthusiast?

Wasn't originaly, my dad had a 66 charger and a 69 GTX and those cars are what started my mopar fascination. Was at a Hooters car show and struck up a conversation with some older gents with some very nice early 50's Fords. They asked what I was into and I told them, they told me a lady in...

    1968 barracuda fastback question

If you dreamed of a viper A-body

Certainly a sleeper being a 4 door! How will it be geared? Factory axle gears like the viper for 200 mph or lower for endless burnouts?

Can you help me get 12's in the quarter and 15 mpg or better?

What axle? 7.25" you'll break in no time trying to race it. 8.25" is fairly strong and has a variety of gear sets available, long term racing with it and slicks make it questionable. 8 3/4" with either 742 or 489 case will suit you well. You don't need a Dana 60 for 12's unless you come...

Can you help me get 12's in the quarter and 15 mpg or better?

Low gears and overdrive. 26" slick for drag racing and a taller tire for highway use. Do you have any running motors available to you now? Budget? What axle and gears are installed in the car now?

    Craigslist, Bait and switch

Had that happen to me. 800 for a complete but non running 68 dart 2dr. Didn't work overtime that day, rented a car dolly and insurance. Arrive at the address and see a 4 door. Rusted to hell, motor is torn apart. Guy kept telling me how it could be made to look as cool as a 2 door. Told him...

any body running a poly 318 in their car

Have heard the poly blocks didn't wear as good as the LA blocks and weighed much more. However there is a company who is installing poly heads on LA blocks. Clearancing has to be done for the pushrods and he is making intake manifolds and cams as well CPPA

Do you ever go in the garage and like....stare at your car....for hours?

Sometimes I stare at mine and remember I bought my barracuda for 1500. 16,000 into it and it's still not done. Pretty sure I have brain damage according to my coworkers in regards to my car but I love every bit of it.

Need Help/Advice on Caravan 2.4 Timing Belt Please

Not a problem bud. I just hope for your sake the motor doesn't run hot. They were notorious for that and that is why i'm getting rid of that pt. it was a 2005 2.4 dohc non turbo. I know they did some improvements later on, but not sure of the differences. Keep in mind the water pump is...

Need Help/Advice on Caravan 2.4 Timing Belt Please

Didn't run into that issue. What I ran into was the camshaft itself wanted to move due to the valvesprings when I was installing the timing belt. The variance that can happen is when dealing with the adjustable tensioner. Too loose or too tight can throw the marks off after a few revolutions...
