It's a 1968 (supposedly from a '68 Barracuda) 318 - untouched.....heads have never been off...no overbore - nothing.
$100 on Craigslist.
For my 1968 Barracuda.

For now I'm just gonna clean it up, tear it down and inspect/measure it.....
As money trickles in the plan is:
Stroke it to 392 (.040" overbore)
Roller cam
Fuel injection
Aftermarket heads

Would those 318 exhaust manifolds be different size then the 273 manifolds ? makes me wonder if they flow a bit better then the 273. Congratulations on a great find

My goal is around 400 HP and super reliable...
I want a torque monster rather than a high RPM horsepower engine...
I don't spend a lot of time at 6,000 RPM....all my fun is from 0 - 60 mph.

I know I could build the crap out of it but I honestly don't need that much...I want it to last.

The guy was asking $400....I emailed him and said.."it needs a full rebuild....will you take $100?"
He didn't even blink....right away he writes back and says "Sure".....

Jeff
Does it turn over?
When I brought my 360 home from Reno I needed to use a breaker bar and some

When I changed my cam in my 318 in the car with the help of
Advil.jpg
I was able to turn it over by hand with the pulley.

 On the 392Wedge project. I am still trying to decide between the IMM iron heads and the trick flow 190 heads that might be coming out in September. I am leaning towards the Iron because of cost, I just don't like eating around 50 pounds for about $700 savings.

Jeff, what's in the B'cuda now?

A nicely rebuilt 727! We need pics like that.

Have you considered a cam yet? I am leaning towards a solid mechanical and ductile iron rockers instead of roller rockers. Anything I can do to reduce the number of moving parts (and therefore potential points of failure) is one of my goals.

On the stand

Interesting, I've torn down a number of 318's and never seen factory pistons with 4 valve reliefs. I have seen aftermarket ones.
