    Carburetor question

OH! By the way, I have a fairly hopped up 340, nothing special, stock rebuilt bottom end, 241@050 Hyd cam, CNC heads, RPM intake and headers, etc…. I’m using the 800 AVS Edelbrock. The stall and gear ratio are a bit steep for an everyday ride but it works really well.

    Carburetor question

Roger that! The crystal ball comment was an inside joke between Rusty and the forum alone with the answer to what cam I should use with the answer being “750 ROLLER!” On a more tech note…. The old 440’s used in Imperial’s and the like huge boats used a small 600 AFB . It should also be noted...

    Carburetor question

@RustyRatRod is your crystal ball still broken? I loaned mine out and haven’t seen it since it was being misused in one of the Lord of the Rings movies. I’m pretty pissed about it.

    Carburetor question

800 because a 650 is retarded to use on a 416 unless the rest of the build is or danm near OEM stock as a rock. The lack of information is staggering! A .540 cam lift is meaningless.

    Charcoal canister line routing.

The PVC was always to the carb up front. The vent line wasn’t plumbed to the PVC unless the carb was changed out where the suggestion of using a “T” to be used to connect them was in the carbs instructions. I agree with capping the others IF there is a gas smell issue. Cap the canisters open...

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

I’m not sure on “THAT” intake, but I hope it works for you. I just gave you what worked for me and IIRC, others here as well.

    A. Edelbrock RPM-AG with a Mancini drop base air cleaner on my ‘67 Cúda.

    LD340 vs other intakes

Yep! Sure was. I also call this test a bit bogus and not really tapping into the intakes potential. It’s a fine A-B-C test with a “Look what happens in this specific combination.” And that’s it. Just that specific deal right there. This test also reminds me of the header test. It was exhaust...

    LD340 vs other intakes

Depends in the comb, each and every time. Today, I would t even think about a single plane unless the cam was at least 255@050 in a light car. Have it ported and run it to 7K. It’s a big plenum/short runner intake.

    TQ questions

Notice the throttle arms and the vacuum ports! No EGR valve port, no extra vacuum port on the base. Just the PVC, part time and full time vacuum ports. The rear of the carbs show ether an extra full time vacuum port or a power brake booster port. These are the over the counter TQ’s you would...

A 9801s electric choke MoPar arm, no EGR port.
  17. rumblefish360

    TQ questions

The electric choke TQ model you have is the emissions rated unit. EGR port included. It is also a MoPar throttle arm unit. The one pictured below (9800) has no EGR and 1 less vacuum port. This is the Chevrolet throttle arm unit.

    TQ questions

I’d use the 9080. The front of it has the altitude compensator. You can simply plug that and the purge port and leave open the top vent port. The electric choke model has a bunch of emissions vacuum ports to plug up which I don’t like much at all. The first two are emissions carbs. The pig...

Who has had good experiences with the Brawler series of carburetors?

Why battle the competition when you can just buy them up? So they did just that. There is probably some legal loop hole that allows a copycat carb to be done. With the recent inflation hike going on, it’s nuts ain’t it?!?! Look around at the other parts as well. Like an intake manifold. Be...

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

This is a CID needing it or not. On a dual plane, I agree. We have seen this before a few times. The newer intake has a better runner and does t need to be large in size. This is why I think it works so well on the street. The air and fuel have an easier time moving into the head and cylinder...

Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 injection 340 motor any test out there?

When you use this symbol “ @ “ in front of a screen name, in this case “Bergmanautocraft”, it will send an alert to that member saying “Someone mentioned you in a thread” and give you the threads link so you can see and read it. It was not a link to anything else. “Bergmanautocraft” is Mr...

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

The LD-340 has larger more free flowing runners. This is key to making power. The other intakes you have posted are just simply stock parts. The OEM parts are made and designed to be the best they can be under a heavy limitation imposed by the factory design engineering department for a slew of...

    Aluminum intake install - 340

That’s where I had mine. 10-1, 360 - 4spd - 4.10’s - 27” tire. 292/.508 purple was the smallest I ran in it in my 20’s. Nice mid 12 car. Probably could have gone faster if it wasn’t in a heavy ‘73 Cúda @ 3600 before gasoline and me. Oh! I made the switch to a LD-340 and later killed down the...

    Aluminum intake install - 340

The intake will do good if you have enough camshaft under it for its use.
  27. rumblefish360

    Aluminum intake install - 340

I disagree on being a crappy one though there are better. Suggesting he dump it for a better one is unhelpful. To answer the question, test fit the intake by simply putting it on with the gaskets in place without the intent of sealing it up for good. Just see how it fits on and bolt it down. No...
