Summit exhaust kit Hooker Competition recommendations

I did the exact same set up as you are trying, had to buy an extra 1' of exhaust tubing from the parts store. I added header collecters to the end of the tti head pipes and connected it to the summit system, to allow clutch changes etc.

    Summit 3" exhuast kit

I did the 2.5" on my Duster, it fit good, I had to cut one pipe, and buy an additional 1' of pipe from the parts store. I did tack weld the pipes, then removed them and welded them all the way around, no leaks. It was pretty easy and straigh-foward. My buddy on the other hand ran a complete 5"...

Pour a little kerosene in them and light them on fire, after blowing them out with air. That should evacuate any critters.

Need help with 73 duster's Starter

It might come out, if you loosen it, and with the car sitting on jack-stands, turn the steering all the way to the side. This may give you enough room to drop it out.

Looking for advice on exhaust system.

I used Accurate head pipes hooked to a summit 2.5" header back kit. It sounds good, I only had to buy an extra 1' of straight pipe to hook everything up. I also put collector flanges on the Accurate head pipes to the summit kit, to aid in engine/transmission removal if needed. I also fully...

Headers vs 360 manifolds for 318

Yes the old duster was stock ride height. Current duster with manifolds will be just a cruiser / play toy. You will never be able to tell the difference performance wise.

Headers vs 360 manifolds for 318

Headers will make the engine breath better, even the cheap ones. I put headers on my first duster, my ex-wife drove it for a daily driver for years, never again on a a-body. Complete pain in the butt, they were blackjacks, typical cheap headers, beat to fit in place. Remove to change starter...

Truck muffler and tail pipe $1800!

I did a header back install on my old truck, and bought Jegs kit. It ran about $250 for duels. On the same truck for example a buddy bent up a single exhaust for it, including making a "Y" pipe for $225. So I guess the shop does not want to do the job if it entails putting the header on the 292.

    Truck Headers

Hookers fit those era trucks with no issues, or denting. Put a set on my 78 W150 last spring, easy. Just take the starter off, slide the drivers header up from the bottom. On the passenger side, take the oil filter off, drop it in from the top. No need to un-bolt the motor mounts, jack the...

    1st hand tips please

I loosely hung the tail pipes on the hangers, slid the mufflers on, trimmed the head pipes. With everything together, I tack welded everything but the mufflers. Took the entire exhaust off and welded the pipes. The only clamps I used was on the mufflers. The reason I welded the pipes was...
