Removing the big Black box under my dash for the A/C..

It has four studs sticking thru the firewall with nuts under the hood. You have to remove the heat box first, then the a/c box. This is how my 72 came out, they changed in 73 but should be similar. If your car is factory air you need that box for defrost and heat unless you find a non a/c heat...

    New Cooling/fan question

Have you had the radiator checked? Mine was overheating on the highway didn't have any flow through the radiator. Has it cored and now it never gets over 160 in traffic, idling, with the a/c on, 98+ degrees. 160 t-stat, clutch fan, no shroud Bruce

    disassemble and reassemble

Don't try to save on this project, I spent more trying to save than it cost to have a shop pump it and charge it $50. You will need a new dryer, $15 you will be much happier with the results if you do it right. Bruce

    Evaporator repair

I got my a/c working, this guy in Fort Worth TX fixed the evaporator and it works great. He also sells a/c parts and is great to work with. Thought I would share his info if anyone needs an evaporator repaired because the pre 73's are hard to find. [email protected] Bruce

    A/C compressor oil

Does anyone know how much oil a c-171 compressor needs? These are a rotary and were used on mid-late 80's mopars. The new one I got says to drain oil and replace with oem oil. Should I put back the same amount that came out? Whats wrong with the oil they come with? I'm using r-134. Any help...

    New radiator

Agreed, my Dart has a stock a/c rad and after getting it cleaned it ran at idle in gear for over 30 min in 100+ heat and the elec fan never came on and you could touch the top of the rad. 160 thermostat Bruce

    Heater & A/C control

I use a rotary compressor on my 72 Dart (all stock under dash) the drawback is you have to have the right intake for it to work as it sits right over the thermostat housing. The setup works very well. The performer intake will work or any stock late 80's intake from a 318 or 360. Sanden also...

    Heat box to fan mount?

72 Dart w fac a/c is there supposed to be something to bolt the heat box to the fan/a/c box housing? All mine has is a single bolt near the center of the a/c box and the j hook going up to the cowl, nothing to pull it tight to the fan. Is something missing? Thanks and God Bless Bruce

    Heater/AC Control Problem

If it's like my 72 Dart there is a rod coming down right side, next to the floor outlet, pull it down,or push up? and leave it there for defrost. You may have to leave the push button on defrost so the other vacuum doesn't pull it off defrost. Hope this helps. Bruce

    evaporator interchange

Does anyone know if an evaporator from 74-76 Dart factory air, is the same as a 72 with factory air? Thanks and God Bless Bruce

    Will this work?

I tried an electric fan on my 318, it was only 3" thick and still hit the pump. If your rad is in the stock location it might hit. That shroud looks pretty thick. Bruce

getting heat to work on 72 dart

I have a 72 w a/c, is the evaporator box still under the dash? My controls are vacuum and when I first hooked up all the lines no defrost, I had the wrong line (the two that go thru the firewall) hooked to vacuum, switched them and the defrost works now. There is a canister on the fender well...

    72 A/C Low Side Valve

I used one of the valves that screw on over the smaller one and had constant leaks. Went thru two compressors before finding out it was the problem. I would use the one that goes directly into the hole. Bruce

    heater control removal

I have a 72, you have to take out the glove box and snake your arm and a 1/4 drive socket (3/8 or 5/16)? can't remember which over to the unit, there are two nuts one right and one on the left. Texas Acres sells oem units if you are interested. Hope this helps.
