The Cap Prongs you speak of is the cap style you mean? If thats the case, it does not matter wheather you go with the male or female type, just as long as your plug wires will hook to them.

Look through the link I provided, I think this is the one you speak of, I bout it new, and cheap, and it worked GREAT. It is still for sale if you need one...

Let me know if the one in route does not work, I made mine, I used a plumbing pipe fitteing, turned out really nice.

Make sure you have hot when the key is on, and when cranking, check it with a multi-meter.I had a similar problem when doing an ignition upgrade on my valiant.
