    new cam-head porting combo

Thinking of taking my buddies new 4.10 pumpkin off his hands just for a day of racing at the track or a change of pace. (def need some sticky sneaks) For some reason he made a radical decision and dropped all the way down to 3.91s!!

    new cam-head porting combo

yer right, cant use this cam. need more aggressive. Converter is overkill for what I have now. was specifically built for ported heads and more aggressive cam. I'm dealing with the isssue of a very loose converter right now-but a WAY better condition with what I had with the previous one :)...

    new cam-head porting combo

yep, that I know about the carb. Its too small now for "optimum " performance. Its really responsive. Only lacks a few ponies way up above 6K. "maybee" pick up 6 hp with an 800. converter is perfect match. Already went over this (converter specs) with Lenny. Told him current setup is very...

    new cam-head porting combo

I'm set for this year, just gonna enjoy the added performance of the TTI headers....... but I'm planning ahead already for the next step. as is now : Fresh 372" balanced stroker motor. Less than 5,000 mi. since rebuild. Using 308 heads, valves upgraded to the 2.02's. Currently no porting...

    308 heads

I'm sure somebody will be able to provide some specs for you. I have nothing but my own dyno run (no head flow chart) to reference. I am pretty happy that "both" Mike's referred me to the 308 heads vs. the Edelbrocks $$ at the time of my engine build. My brother Todd sold a '69 Cuda to...

    308 heads

Using the same heads on my 372" SB. 2.02's installed and so far no port work at all. 430HP, 450Tq on a dyno run with only a 650 Thunder series and tiny set of Chevy dyno headers... researching into porting these 308's over the winter downtime, along with installing the tti's when things go...

Adam I need to hook you up with Mike M. who built mine. He comes down to Marcus all the time.

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

Well it appears my questions have been answered! Yahoo. I could not for the life of me see how just going to a stroke 0.27" longer would suddenly make the engine run "so hot, forget taking your car out in the 80's" . The last line of B.S. I was fed was "that stroker kit is gonna run you like...

    340 vs 440

Thats the damn truth! Believe above post. All I hear is horror stories. I even tried a stroker V-Twin HP kit motor for one of my Harleys...total crap. Nothing but a problem from the 1st day. I'll be paying a bit more for my 340 than one of those 435 hp crates but its all better internals.

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

Thanks Chuck. I figured that would be the case. I wasnt sure if the extra cylinder pressure or piston speed would contribute.

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

Simple question. Again focus on a STREER driven musclecar. (not a 500hp drag car) Pump gas, 10.5:1 comp. or lower..mild cam and Hughes StageII heads..either 360 stroke crank or the 4.00" crank. Q- Does anyone have over-heating problems using the stock Chrysler cooling system, during...

The price looks good on a set of SIR rods too.

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

I have no "set" goal of HP. Like I said, I rather have a motor with more torque vs. a 500 hp screamer. Cant emphasise enough, Im not into putting a high RPM drag motor into a street musclecar. Its never been an option, and the thought has never crossed my mind. Not into needing to change...

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

Dis is da deal..motor is (secret) tired, and needs rebuild anyhow. I used to drag race my Challenger years ago and since technology has changed so much for the better since the mid 80's, I am looking for fast again-faster than what I even had. Im using Hughes Engines for everything. They...

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

Thanks for specifics...Im looking into the MP forged crank, unsure to go w/ the 4.00" stroke or the 360 stroke with 340 journals. Spending top $$ on good pistons, and a balance/blueprint. Also staying away from comp. ratio thats too high. Need to keep this cool with my factory cooling system...

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

OK, so I can assume its safe to say I will have no conceans using a "factory LA block" -1970 340- to build a mild, streetable stroker.. Im not looking to persue a raging 10 sec. 565 HP engine build by any means, but I thought what I read in this article that 430-450 was a "maximum allowable"...

Peak HP from LA block w/ no problems

For anyone who has built a killer STREETABLE smallblock based on early 340 or 360 block. Up to what HP (no guesses, documented) did you make safely? One reference i have says "no more than 450 HP safely" from a factory LA block. Im assuming they mean for extended durations like circle...
