I have done this, worked out well

it is one long piece that goes all the way across, there is two small flat head bolts hidden under the rubber that goes through those two holes and bolts from the inside of the fender.

I just made mine out of a piece of 18 gauge stainless, it has a sort of diamond pattern on it. took a couple minutes.

when you originally made this post, j061093409 in the second post, said he had plenty of fiberglass ones that he would sell, I pm'd him and bought a set from him, they showed up in two days and they are in excellent shape, I would suggest you just get them from him and be done with it.
