90 degree oil filter adapter or not?

Thanks for all the input. I'm way over in Sweden, anyone know where I could order one?

90 degree oil filter adapter or not?

I have a 360 that is going into a 1970 Duster with Hooker Competition headers. The Oil filter clears the header as shown in the picture. I plan to go with a shorter filter than the one in the picture. Do I by some other reason need to use a 90 degree oil filter adapter? I would rather not use it...

360 timing cover, which bolts go into water?

I cant seem to find it here on FABO or by googling. I did find info on the water pump bolts. But are there any of the lower timing cover bolts that go into water or oil and need to be sealed?

    Engine balance after new pistons

I actually already run an external cooler, I had the same converter with my previous enginge. I hope I can stay with the 3.55's, I like that gearing.

    Engine balance after new pistons

Thank you for that information! Very nice to hear from someone with the exact same set up. I have a 10" 3000 stall Turbo Action converter and I have 3.55 gearing, I also have a set of 3.73 gearing on the shelf.

Do I go with the 318 or the 360?

My vote goes to the 360 since you have more plans further down the line.

    What a 1968 340 manual transmission cam idles like in a 1969 340

Both ways sound great! I really want to ad either an H or X pipe. Mine just sounds too loud as it is now with the Super 44's. I regret buying them to be honest. Great sounding car you got!

    Engine balance after new pistons

Another question. Will the shop need my old pistons to be able to make all calculations?

    Engine balance after new pistons

After talking to some friends I'm a bit confused about what I need to do to get my engine balanced and correct. I am putting together a 360. My plan is to use the stock crank, rods and damper. The flexplate I will be using is the B&M Flexplates 10236. I have bought Speed Pro Hypereutectic...

    You gotta see this ......

Thanks. Hmm, I'm not sure I want to take the chance. What would and affordable upgrade be? I'm shooting for around 400 hp in this build.

    You gotta see this ......

I was also under the impression that the stock Valvetrain could be used with the Edelbrock RPM heads. I just bought a set and I will be running the xe268H cam.

Finally, my first 360 and goals for it! I'll be asking a lot of questions.

I see it now too. The picture after is on the same side of the bore but taken with a flash. I have gone over this block and have not seen or felt anything out of order. But hey, I cant swear I did not miss this. I hope it's not a crack I have missed! I will take a real close look at that...

Hi. Could you save and then post up the picture where you see it? Maybe even draw a circle or an arrow? I can't find it in the photos. If I have all the numbers right for the compression calculator, with the heads, speedpro pistons and thin mr gasket It will be 10.29

Finally, my first 360 and goals for it! I'll be asking a lot of questions.

Change of plans! I ordered a set of Edelbrock RPM heads :) A lot of other things has started to come in recently too. Still waiting for the heads though. I followed RustyRatRod's cam bearing install thread. Thanks Rusty! Everything lined up nicely, but of course I f...d up on the last bearing...

    Edelbrock head alternatives?

Are you shure of this? Have you used and if so what do you think of them?

    Edelbrock head alternatives?

Did they kill the low end?

    Edelbrock head alternatives?

Yes, I saw that too. It was the price tag that made me interested. I have a set of iron heads that I spent like 50 hours on porting them (I'm a beginner). They need new guides and cutting the seats. I'm not sure if I should spend the money on them. I'm a bit scared I ruined them with my portjob...

    Edelbrock head alternatives?

Are these an option? Mopar Chrysler SB 318 360 170cc 65cc Hydr-FT Complete Aluminum Cylinder Heads They are SpeedPros. I have been looking at these myself. Does anyone know if they will work with stock valvetrain (hydralic non adjustable rockers)?

    DIY cam bearing install

I like this idea, thanks! I'm very curious, do you have a picture of this tool. I have an old cam I could use for this! I was thinking about using a treaded rod and different size washers for each journal. I was also thinking maybe I could use a socket to install the cam bearing shell onto. But...

    DIY cam bearing install

Putting together my 360 I would like to do as much as possible myself. Why? I would learn from it and also maybe get some satisfaction out from knowing that I did it myself. I have never installed cam bearings, but I think I could do it. Most of my friends have had the shop do this for them. No...

Finally, my first 360 and goals for it! I'll be asking a lot of questions.

So now I'm waiting for some tools and parts to arrive. The engine will go together something like this: Stock crank, rods & bore (honed by me) All new bearings & oil pump Ported (by me) 3769974 heads - Mr. Gasket 1121G Speed Pro H116CP pistons Xe268H and matching springs, new lifters, chain and...

Finally, my first 360 and goals for it! I'll be asking a lot of questions.

Spent a good amount of time today calibrating the bore gauge and then measure and measure again and finally a triple check. I felt like I got a good hang of using the tools. I did not use a stress plate. I measured each bore in 6 positions (took forever). The biggest number on taper was .0023...
