Is it a low band apply?? Sounds like the low band is too slow releasing or the intermediate band apply too fast.Start by checking both band adjustments.How many spring in the rear servo 1 or 2? Cope Racing has a servo kit to help with this overlap...

If you have 1,2 and reverse it a valve body or governor problem .I would start with the governor make sure it not sticking and the sealing ring are not worn or damaged .

Is it possible you have a pre 1970 trans??

That look like 917-2 the missing piece that goes between the lever and the band.It possible it was loose and popped out. Drop the valve body and see if the band is broken.If nothing is broken but it back together adjust both bands.

Make sure the diff vent is not pluged , it will build pressure and push oil past the seals.

Try not to grind or drill if you don't have too, the fillings can mess thing up in a hurry. Like Trailbeast it will likely come your with your fingers

I know they block the accumulator piston to firm up the the shifts but was unaware that they also block the shuttle valve .

the shuttle valve controls kickdown shift feel by restricting how fast the fluid is released from the front clutchpack and the outside of the front servo.

The accumulator spring does not effect when the shift takes place, it cushions the shift so removing the spring will make the shift firm, putting a blocker rod if so the piston can't move will make it more so.

Sound like you have damaged the t/v linkage ( bent or sticking)so the trans thinks the throttle is open more than it really is. This will cause late hard shifts.Check that it moves freely and readjust.

To shift into 4Low you need to be going about 3mph. Drop you automatic into neutral and then in one quick movement, shove the shifter forward into 4Low.

Does it have 2nd drive and reverse?

With the load put on the trans from parking on the steep hill could have stuck the trans in park and you damaged the shift arm or shaft forcing out of park.Should be an easy fix. Did it take a good pull to shift out of park? You should set the park brake before putting the trans in park on...

It's the pivot pin for the low/ reverse band. You will need to remove it and replace the "O" ring. Check the shaft and case for wear and damage.

You say it has a shift kit so you will need to remove the valve body to adjust (lower) the line pressure, also most kit remove the accumulator spring ,some replace it with a blocker rod.If so remove the rod and replacing the accumulator spring this will cushion the shift. Do you know which kit...

I deal with SMR parts/ trans are top of the line .Pat will not steer you wrong. I've also dealt with Cope Racing transmissions. Both are very good.

Hold on to your money untill you find a set of something in the 3s . It will turn up. A set of 3.55 would be real good all around gear. Don't be in a rush or you will be disappointed.

You can not use a neutral balance converter (no weights) with magnum engine unless it has been internally balanced.You will need a flex plate to make up the difference. Get intouch with John Cope,he can give you the lowdown on what is needed...
