EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

Another vote for sniper. Heed their warnings for keeping the sniper wires (to sensors and such) away from ignition wires as well! I run mine with MSD distributor locked out and 6AL box. Also agree with the instant restart difficulty. I think it’s just a little too much fuel, gets the plugs wet...

[FOR SALE] Holley Sniper EFI-Complete system-$600 OBO

Sounds like some of the issues I had with my Sniper system, mine would backfire under load, tried everything to eliminate it but, I ended up ditching the the hyperspark distributor and coil and stuck the stock ignition back in and the sniper worked great then. Those components are really...

So with that being said, do you think there would be any benefit with say 500hp?

    Axle Studsss

This is where I am at now. Removed and replaced all axle studs on right axle. Put wheel (Cragar SS) back on and used new lug nuts and washers. Nuts are 7/16 x 20. Had read on site that nuts should be torqued to 65 ft. lbs. Started torque at 30 ft. lbs. and then went to 40 ft. lbs. then 50...

    Any benefit to 10” wheel?

I have a buddy that runs a turbo car down into the 4.50’s on a 275, he runs a 12” wheel. I have them on a 10” wheel on my Dart.

    Headers

These ceramic coated headers seem pretty nice tbh. I'm looking as well @rumblefish360 do you happen to know if these are the same headers?

    A904 transmission

Make sure your extension has the proper hole/holes in it. If you have a rear pump it will need a two hole extension. I know a 64 904 has a rear pump and should have two pickup holes in the extension

EFI considerations for a 1970 383 with very mid cam

I love my Holley Sniper, however I could never get the Hyperspark distributor and matching coil unit to work without back firing so I'm running it with my old pertronix distributer and accell coil. It runs great, starts great when cold, but does suffer from hard restart if I shut it off and try...

    A904 transmission

If you don't have the extension to move the intake to the bottom of the pan then the deep pan is useless as the extra quart can't be picked up and moved into the system. You might as well not have changes from the stock shallow pan.

    360 vs 383

Another question... Is there a "cool" factor for one vs the other? Usually a BB brings the cool factor, but not always for the 383 (in many eyes). For me, here is when each would be cool... 383 - in a Dodge "B" series Van, especially a shorty 360 - In a police Diplomat, especially if it...

    360 vs 383

I have instances/circumstances where I'd choose one and the same for the other. I could make a quick list of 10 reasons/scenarios for each engine where they'd be the choice.

1970 Super Stock or Pro Stock Darts

This IS a very interesting topic. About 10 years ago, I found an old drag car here in AZ that was raced by the owner's grandfather in the 70s. It was a 1968 Dart GT that had the front dog house cut off and had a 1970 front end on it. Seems to be the opposite of what was mentioned in the first...

I dunno. I’m buying a Ritter block soon. **** cost what **** costs. It ain’t gettin cheaper. I’d be happy as long as **** is available. The unavailability is what pisses me off.

    360 vs 383

Probably valve springs going away, it ran fine otherwise. I sold the car last year so I'll never know. Still not a fan of 383s, they just don't do it for me.

Could I upgrade some part(s) to make it posi ? Or would that require a whole rear end? NICE DUSTER
