    intake swap performer loss?

One other thing you might be able to do is to make a carb adapter out of a single level 1/4" piece of aluminum. Cut it out to fit the intake with a thin gasket and bolts at the 4 corners, then center the 2 bbl gasket up and drill the mount holes for the 2 bbl carb. Flip it over and countersink...

My old engine ran 5.98 too and ran 9.38@138mph. I’m betting this one would go 9.28-9.32. My old engine had a solid lifter cam and a 850 carb. This one has 1000cfm carb and .660 roller cam. The old engine was out of snuff before 1000 foot.

In case no one seen this video of Victoria

6 passes on it with street tires, son put slicks on it and separated the frame from the steering box and collapsed a shock in the rear and bent the shock bolt on the spring plate, parked it and pulled the engine, kept it in a heated shop and garage , spun it about 4 time a year.

    Cylinder wall weld??

IMHO, that is definately not JB nor brass. Appearance is like stainless so it is nickel rod. You need to be careful.with cast iron as it can crack at the edge of the weld as it cools. You must take steps to stress relieve the area. I could see preheating the area and using a tig with a nickel...
