my new limiter has a ground tab on the back , should i make a ground for it and run to the steering mount where the other ground is?

on the back of my gauge cluster there is a 9 pin male connector on the circuit board, should the wires that plug into the pin be in a female connector. i pulled my cluster and half the wires werent plugged up and some were just on with single plugs. thanks for any help tim
