This topic was subject of debate on another forum. I have a 1973 Duster340. Do I simply swap intake manifolds to do away with these things? Or will I find a nice surprise when I remove the stock manifold. Will this improve performance?

I have a '73 Duster 340. There is a condensor looking thing grounded between the coil mounting bracket and intake manifold. It is wired to one of the leads on the ignition coil. Does anyone know what it's for? I just swapped in a Mopar electronic igntion, distributor, ECU & ballast resistor. I...
