Balancing of stroker kits and vibrations

The 360/408 in my Dart has always had a minor but irritating vibration or harmonic that has just bugged the **** out of me. I didn't build the engine so I'm not sure if it was internally balanced or not when assembled. Anyways I pulled it out a year ago and installed a Mopar magnum 360/390HP...

Stock 318 bolt on performance modifications

As I'm pulling parts off this 1975 Valiant 318 to transplant it from a four door parts car to a 72 slant 6 Swinger. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to add headers, intake, and a small four barrel carburetor. I'm actually fine running the motor as is with the 2 barrel carburetor and stock...

X block, 4" stroke 360-1 Indy head build questions

I have a standard bore 340 4 bolt main X block in the garage with 4" stroker crank and some low compression pistons for boosted applications. Don't remember what the compression ratio was but I'm thinking it calculated up to about 7.5 or 8 to 1. Also have some early Indy 360-1 heads fully CNC...

Getting ready to set valve lash on the 273 on the engine stand. Should I set it right at the .020? Or should I set them tighter or looser since the engine isn't hot?

Use oil pump gasket or not?

When I pulled apart this 273 motor it had no oil pump gasket. I'm pretty sure it had never been apart since it had a stock bore and rope rear main seal. New oil pump has a gasket should I use it or just reinstall without? At work one of our Ford 460 trucks doesn't use exhaust gaskets...

    273 commando rebuild question

Rebuilding this little 273 Commando engine The goal is low budget and keep it as original as possible. Today I picked up some new Egge .020 over pistons and as has been discussed in other threads they are lighter than stock. I have a decent postal scale that says the stock pistons and pins...

How to remove spiral piston pin locks

Spiral piston pin locks are a pain in the *** to remove. My mini screw driver and o ring tool don't like them either. There must be a special tool. What to do buy another tool or have machine shop remove them? Guess what I'm wanting to know if they are easily removed with a tool? Any...

    Big small block stroker cranks

So I have seen some threads talking about 4.1" and larger stroke small block cranks. I am assuming that these are standard 4" stroker cranks with offset grind rod journals and chevy rods. Is that correct? Anybody know what the reasonable stroke limits are for a factory block? I know...
