    Dart Sport Torsion Bar Diameter

My 74 Dart Sport is a very low optioned 198, 3-on-the-tree. From the chart referenced here: identify these torsion bars please I would think it has .830 t-bars. It has .850. The car doesn't have a/c. I guess they could've been swapped out over the years, but the car was very original when I...

Early Vs. Late Steering Linkage Differences

My 74 Dart Sport was a slant with manual steering. It's now a 360. When I put it together, I used 1 3/4 Hooker headers. I don't know the part number, but they list as fitting 68-72. They were NOS on eBay. They fit great except where they go around the steering linkage. I was a bit puzzled...

    Torsion Bar Grease

Why are torsion bars greased in their sockets? I can only figure it's to quell sqeaks? Maybe prevent them from freezing in place? I'm re-assembling front street/strip suspension, and if I don't really need it, it'll make things easier in the long run.

How to Move Shackles in 3"

I wasn't going to relocate my springs inboard, but my 9" has been narrowed somewhere in its past, and to get my Prostars to fit, I had to. I only had 3/4" from the rim to the spring when it was in the stock location. Anyhow, I have the Reilly Motorsports front boxes welded in. A-body inboard...

    Cupped Shock Washers

Is there a source for the cupped washers on the rear shocks? I only need two, the ones with the 1/2" hole in them.

    Leaf Spring Bushing Options

I'm replacing the leaf spring bushings on my 74 Dart Sport with polyurethane. It was originally a slant car w/ manual 3 spd., 7 1/4 rear. The front bushing is 2" diameter. The bolt is 9/16 x 4 1/4. I only see 2" bushings available for 5/8" bolts. The 1 1/2" bushings seem to all have 1/2"...

    Comparing Spring Relocate Kits

There are obvious differences seen in the pictures (see links). But why the large price difference? The Mancini MP example shown doesn't have any holes. I've seen pictures of MP hangers with 4 holes. Looks like 2 are for a different front segment length than the other 2. The USCarTools...

    Ever Heard Of This?

Years ago, I read in some magazine's "tech tips" type article about how you could drive nails into new rubber suspension bushings (before installing) to make them stiffer. This was before the advent of the poly stuff that I don't hear the best things about. Being a magazine article, I tend not...
