11x3" backing plates??

-
trucks could have 10 or 11 inch brakes. i try to find the truck plates from 81 up cause they are more likely to have the 11 plates i use. napa brake shoe numbers are as follows:
early pin style shoes for 10 in is ts333
early pin type shoes for 11 in is ts335
later lever style shoes for 10 in are ts445
later lever type shoes for 11 in are ts446
wheel cyl that i use in my kits are 37235 unless the customer wants to match the m/cyl and rear w/cyl
usually anything with an R in part number is a riveted shoe. rock auto has the best price on 10 in drums. unless you get a really good discount at your local auto parts.

ok. what kit are these?

that is the early backing plate. later plates have the wings to prevent the wheel cylinder cups/pistons from coming out. with those levers and struts the napa parts are as follows:
hardware kit-2227
wheel cylinders-37235
w/cyl pins 80743
lt side adjuster kit-80685
rt side adjuster kit -80686
brake shoes-ts335
that backing plate is for the drivers side, unless it has a 2nd hole in the back. which you could then use on either side.

perfect. thats everything i have in my naapa cart except the wheel cyl pins. can't seem to find those. i looked everything up yestersay for a 70 new yorker and the numbers match yours. thanks for the help.

i do have a set of backing plates. i know one has two holes i believe both do. i'd have to look again.

w/cyl pins 80743: the napa site claim these do not fit my application. i'll give them a try. i may even have them here already...

that is the early backing plate
Correct me if I'm wrong. As long as your hardware is all later (spring in the auto adjuster cable) or all earlier (no spring in the auto adjuster cable) you can use either with early or late backing plates

My investigation shows 69 (maybe late 68 model year) is the cut over.

yes. the only difference is the levers you use. i use the later self adjusters because i feel they are safer than the earlier style.

As mentioned above , 11 “ x 2 1/2 “ and 11 “ x 3 “ Backing Plates — ARE — Different….

11 “ x 3 “ Rears ( and hence Backing Plates ) were used on Police Cars and Ambulances
And are available — USED ONLY —-

O.P. — Good Luck in the quest / search….

Yours, Craig….
I got a set off a 1965 Dodge Monaco. It had a 426 wedge with 4 speed and a 8 3/4 rear with limited grip or posi unit in it. car had massive rust issues all gone from the doors back.

If you wanted to quickly see the difference between 10" and 11" backing plates:

What is the diameter of a 10" backing plate?
And an 11" backing plate?

i believe that these new drums are 11x2.5. can anyone confirm that part number? I'm having trouble finding it.
