Hi all,
Running some 14 inchers on the rear of my 65 right now, yet upgrading to some 15x7 with 4 1/8 bs. What is the tallest and/or widest tire that can be run on the rear, with stock 5 leaf suspension?
Springs are new so the rear doesn't sag at all, yet want to run a taller tire than what I have on there now- 215-70-14, in a 15 inch.
thanks

I use to run 245's in the back and it was reeeealy close. Think I may have even put a small spacer in back to give myself a little extra space. I don't recall what the exact backspace was on mine.

245/60/15 should fit just fine

I currently have some outlaw 2s on the back, and before I replaced the leaf springs (the original saggy 4 leafs) my tires rubbed the outer fender. Probably has to do with the saggy leafs and 4 inch backspace they have.

255/70/15 BF Goodrich tire on a 7 1/4 BS rallye wheel on a 1969 Dart. I had to shim/ move the leaf spring back a 1/4 inch to clear the front quarter. mancini sells the plates, used for reinforcement on the super stock cars, or make your own.

I have a question as well. Where to get street/slick tires with the same dimensions as this tire profile to run at the track? I have been having a hard time finding anything, other than slicks.

I have 255/60R15 on my 66 Valiant and they fit nice, no rubbing but I am running MP S/S springs so it is higher. I have run this tire on a stock 15x6 Mopar wheel, 15x6 Torq Thrust's and currently on 15x7 Cragar S/S's :glasses7:

What is the exact backspacing on each of those rims.

I'd think a 66 Valiant would be the same as a 65 Valiant in the rear quarter.

I'm running 15x8 rims with offset hangers i squeezed 255 r 60's in there tight but work.

Does a 15x6 on the rear fit better?
I am guessing a larger tire can fit back there instead of a 15x7?
