15x8.5 question

A 275-60-15 would be a good match to that wheel size.

I have ran a 245-60-15 mounted on a 8.5" wheel on the street but it looks pretty narrow on that wheel.
 
My Dad runs 275-60-15 on the back of his 1968 Charger R/T on a factory 15x6 and 235-60-15 on the front with factory 15x6. It will soon have 295-70-15 on rear and might step up to a 15x7.
It gives the sidewall a nice bulge out that looks really good.

What car, year and any changes to the suspension or brakes (i.e. was small bolt now large)? Seems all A bodies had different wheel well and fender l clearances. What fits a Duster may not fit a older Dart.
 
I have a 1974 dodge dart custom 4 door. Stock suspension. Id like to have some beefier tires in the back. Does anyone know how wide I could go?
 
I've got 295-55-15 (M/T drag radials) on my 15X8.5 rims, M/T says 8.0 is the smallest recomended rim width. No clearance issues at all. (74 Duster) if you want, I'll post a pic.
 

I don't want to hi-jack the thread, but it's 440/727/8 3/4, 3.91 . suspension is re-built stock with an adjustable pinion snubber & air shocks & poly front end bushings.

Springs not moved in or anything like that?
 
I ran 15X8.5 Centerlines on my Barracuda with 235-70-15, 255-60-15s 275-60-15s and 325-50-15s. The 275-60 was the best fit. 4-7/8" backspacing. The 275 and bigger needed the springs moved in. I dont think you'll stuff those under a Dart with out some extra work though.
 
Not 15x8 1/2 but they are 14x8 1/2 with 235/60/14. They could stand to be wider, but they fit nice.
