i have 17s on my car and its really no diffrent than a dart

i know it will be ok with a 7" and i believe a 8" will be ok also. i would measure though. remember the tire won't bulge much.
 
I just ordered some of those Bullitt wheels with the 5.72 backspacing, I'm gunna cross my fingers with those! I guess I need to get a 1/8 spacer in order to not have to grind the centers?

where did you get them? if you got them from american muscle then no grinding is needed. a 225/50-17 will just fit the rear. maybe a quarter inch of room on the spring. atleast it did on jamies 69 dart.

yep, got those, they were cheap! if I go with 225/45-17 are those gunna give me significant clearance in the front?
 
yea they are the ones i bought and they fit the rear fine. isn't a 225/45 a little wider? not sure how they will fit.

Thought 225/45 were smaller in dia? 225 is the width? and I thought 45 was the height of the tire?

225/45 is 25" tall on a 7.5" deep wheel so I thought it would provide better clearance.

Was lookin at Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec's but I'm torn on what to get for tires!
 
yeah, what I'm worried about is the tire bulging too much where it would start to rub in the back, I guess I'm just gunna have to go for it and see what happens :/ I'm hoping whatever happens its not going to be a project to play around with clearance issues.
 
im in this same boat...i want to put a 8 inch wide with a 4.25 or 4 b.s in the rear.....i like the look of a deep rim...
 
So with the 17s what rim and tire size should i go with too fit my fenderwells i dont want to do any modifactions to the fenderwells (tubbing etc) or the rims. this is a show car and daily driver. im completely customizing it

fronts are 17x7, 215/45/17 and rear are 17x8, 4'' back space 245/45/17
i am wanting to put some mini tubs and 4link the rear and i should be able to fit 10s with a 315-335 tire, the 245s just arent enough rubber on the ground what sise are yours the look like they fit good

i say in the rear go with a 17x8 4.5 back space with a 245/45/17 tire maybe a 275/40/17 tire and 17/7 3.5 back space with a 215 or 225/45/17 for the front
 
i have 17x8 with 5.72 bs with 245s all around on a 74 duster. its hard to imagine any less backspacing working on the front.

a 215-225 is not as wide as a 245. also 3.5 bs on a 7 is a 0 negative/positive back space thats whats on the front of my car. i bet your car handles really good with 245s on the front? do you have a pic of your car i am interested how it looks

i'm running

front: 225/50-17
rear: 275/50-17
