1949 plymouth special deluxe coupe

i just got me this car but can not find no vin numbers, engine and tranny was not in the car, nothing on door post either side, i do have a body number by steering colum, says the body was built in evansville mo. how do i go about getting a title for this and can it be done

Look and see if there's a metal tag riveted to the firewall, in the engine compartment. Seems like I remember seeing them there on Mopars that old.

The VIN is in the right door on the front post.
