1964 Dart GT Carburetor Help

Does anyone have some tips on rebuilding a 1964 Dodge Dart GT carburetor? I'm not sure if I want to do it myself or ship it somewhere. The car is all original, and I hear when some shops clean it, they might strip off the original gold-colored coating. Any thoughts/tips/suggestions?
