i know there’s a few members who own early A wagons (myself included). I’ve put together some production numbers (courtesy of Ulf - 65dartcharger) of wagon options and certain options available to all 65 Darts.

So in 65 wagon’s were broken down by engine - slant 6 and V8 2 barrel - and class - 170 and 270 - there were no GT wagon’s. There were 6528 made of the 6 cylinder 170 model and 3308 of the 270 model with a total of 9836 slant wagon’s out the door. There Is further breakdown for 225 engines but no further breakdown for individual options based on the 170 or 225 engine. The V8 breakdown was 566 of the 170 model and 1289 of the 270 model for a total of 2855 V8 made. V8’s were all 273 2 barrel motors - there were no 273/235 motors offered in the wagon. So 12681 wagon’s were made out of a total Dart production of 176514 units or wagon’s comprised 7% of all 65 Darts.

Now on to wagon-specific options!

Rear window deflectors appeared on 540 of the 6’s (242 of the 170’s and 298 of the 270’s) - total 838. On the V8’s 58 were on the 170’s and 240 were optioned on the 270 for a total of 298. Total for all was 1136.

Luggage racks were optioned on 711 of the of the 6 cylinder 170’s and 875 of the 270’s - total 1586. The V8 170’s got 152 of them while the V8 270’s got 523 or 675 with total luggage racks 2261.

Power window tailgates came on 805 170’s and 1043 270’s with the slant for a total of 1848. The v8 170 got 150 while the 270’s got 592 or a total of 742 with total tailgate production 2590.

Now for a couple of options available to all Darts:

Factory integrated Heat/AC - 239 came on the 170 and 279 for the 270 for a total of 518 for the slant 6. The V8 170’s got 75 while the V8 270’s got 296 total 371 for a total of only 889 for all wagon’s.

4 speed- both 170 and 270 slants got 16 each! V8 170’s got 5 while V8 270’s ended up with 19 - 24 total for V8’s or 56 total 4 speeds for all 65 wagon’s - rare indeed!

Hope you’ve found these 65 Dart wagon fun facts interesting and learned a bit more about a relatively hard to find 65 Dart wagon.
