I have a '65 Barracuda Formula S with the factory Carter AFB four-barrel and a '65 Valiant Signet Convertible with the factory Carter BBD two-barrel. I found what is pictured in a plastic bag and asking if anyone knows the specific application? Thank you.

That started in 1970 on BB mopars. Used 70-72 until the thermoquads started.
I saw a wanted ad for one and the guy had a slant 6.

The intake was open to the heat crossover under that cup and it needed the gasket to seal it off.

The chokes that go with it look like this one.

OK thanks. I also have a circa '68 340 intake manifold (AVS) and a '72 318 two-barrel intake manifold (BBD) that the item in question might belong. Or it could be just a part I found somewhere along the line in years past (personally I haven't had a big block).

Good chance the 72 318, these were not used 1969 model year and back. We're not made yet.

The pictured parts are a choke thermostat well cup and gasket used on most 1970 - 1972 engines. The eight cylinder parts (part numbers 2951544 and 2951545) look similar, but are different from the six cylinder parts (part numbers 2946529 and 2946530).

The well cup sits in the well which is open to the exhaust crossover in the intake manifold. The gasket installs between the cup and the manifold well opening. The choke thermostat mounts on top,and two bolts secure the parts to the manifold.

The following diagram shows the hardware installation:

A choke thermostat, well cup, and gasket and their relative position are shown in the following image:

That long ram choke is completly different shape and parts from a 70-72 engine. Top of choke is flat.
