Love seeing the odd/ less popular models in hipo versions !!! A - bodies look awsome in cragars !!! Bet those were light . I have not heard of that option either .

I saw that car run at Dover Drag Strip (Wingdale, NewYork)

A basic 1967 Valiant V-100 with a 273/235 HP 'Commando', sponsored by Rich Chrysler-Plymouth (Danbury, Connecticut)

1968 = I/SA (12.00=12.49 Wt/Hp)

Ran 13.70's - and was street driven in 1968.

Was a quick little car. Check out the 273 'HiPo' rectangular exhaust tip resonator under the driver side rear bumper.

Hey! thats my old car!!! they had removed the 273 from it and put in a 625hp 360 when i bought it. when i did the research on it i believe it was one of 256 or something like that. it had the v8 symbol on the fender. this is the first time i saw another one. mine was bought buy a guy in the army stationed in germany then shipped back to the states by him in 82. then was restored by a shop in Cal and given to the old man i bought it from his nephew put in the 360 and he never even drove it because he was legaly blind. i bought the car for 1200 with the 625hp 360 it was the only car that ever scared me when i put my foot into it lol o and i lost it in a garage fire still have the edlebrock intake that was on it at my nephews house though here are the only pics i have left

Don't be confused with the Basic V-100, and the flashy 'Signet'.

The Signet had decor interior, rocker panel moldings, roof drip moldings,
'B-Pillar' vertical chrome molding, and side window moldings.

I believe the V-100 with the 273/235 HP weighed in at #2835 lbs.

One wonders, if Mopar had rated the 273/235 HP 'Commando' at a more true rating of 220 HP,
and offered up a true 273/235 HP called the 'HP Commando'.

* Bumpier solid lifter camshaft (.450 lift / 266* Duration)
* Higher-rate valve springs (240 lbs. Heavy-coil w/damper)
* Carter AFB (575 CFM), off of the 383/325 HP engine.

My first Mopar was a 65 100 2 door sedan with a Commando 273 and 4 speed- had a 4.88 gear under it when I bought it off a used car lot in Cumberland MD in 1966- I broke the rear on the way home the first night- replace with a 7 1/4 with 2.76 gears- and I proceeded to break several of those---
The car had a shipping weight of 2660#s and ran F/S at the time- first time at the track I ran a 57 vette with 2 4s in my class- blew me away

The lightest the 1967 V-100 could be to make I/Stock in 1968 was #2820 lbs.
(The V-100 was 120 lbs. lighter than the 67' Barracuda 'Fastback' 273/235 HP)

I/SA = (12.00 - 12.49 Wt/Hp).
