i have always wondered about this type of air cleaner...how does the engine get enough air to run besides the tube that hooks to the valvecover?The ones without the breather tube really have me stumped...

the base is smaller than the lid so it pulls it in through the bottom...

The air cleaner element is about as big as the pie tin diameter itself, so all that area between the tin edge and the edge of the air cleaner top i(what is black in the photo) is open under the lid. the small tube is a V/V breather stub.
