Were the front armrest bases on a 1968 Barracuda black plastic or chrome plastic? My 1970 Swinger 340 has black armrest bases.

Depends on what level trim it has. Formula S would be chrome, base could be any color BUT chrome. 70 Swingers could have any type.

My 68 Barracuda fastback is not a formula S car. It's an original 318 console automatic car.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant BASE MODEL could be any color of the interior, or black.

Thanks. A prior owner installed 64-66 a-body armrests on the otherwise super nice interior. Looks like I'll go with the black armrest bases and armrests.

I believe the deluxe interior option had the chrome arm rest bases along with wood trim on the dash and door panels, carpeted side panels in the fastback area, seat medallions and pedal trim.

    I have owned 2 68’s with this package a 318 car and a 340 formula S.

I just picked up a 68 fastback formula S with the deluxe interior and they are chrome front and rear.

My rear "door panels" have no armrest bases or armrest pads and there aren't any holes to mount any. The only holes are for the window cranks.

I guess you get to save a little money not having to buy rears. The ones in this car that I just picked up are not in very good shape, so down the road I will need to replace them.

Yes, looks like I'll just be replacing the fronts. My 68 doesn't have shoulder belts either. Radio delete also and no cigarette lighter in the dash and no hole for one.

Mine has all that bull shit but when I replace the headliner I don't think I will be putting the shoulder belts back. The passenger side shoulder belt is mostly there but the drivers side is missing some parts. Well see that's still a long way a ways.
Take care good luck with your build.
