1968 Dart console plate color??

I need to paint the top of my console. I'm talking about the metal plate that surround the shifter etc. The original color is a light gray but it is in need of a paint job. I can see that it's chrome underneath but I'm hoping someone can recomend what product I should use to refinsih this part?

I have painted (1) in past argent Silver and recently put a woodgrain decal on similar to this:

I used the light argent rallye wheel paint for that. Used it on the rallye inst panel too.
This was many years ago and in a B'cuda I nolonger have. No pic available

I could be mistaken, but I am pretty sure that the woodgrain was not used until the 1969 model year. All 67 and 68 console cars I had were silver painted, although I am not sure of the "correct" color.

Painted mine with Mopar Argent Silver wheel paint then cleared it.
