Hi,
I am selling my very, very rust free ’68 Dart hardtop.
Please do not reply to this thread if you are interested as I am generally not on this forum and I will not see your reply.
For a look at it, please see my CL ad at: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/cto/2500178436.html
If you are seriously interested, e-mail me at: timgavern@gmail.com I have good pics, but do not have them hosted anywhere. I can e-mail them to you.
I bought this 1968 Dodge Dart GT a while back from an A-body guy up in the high desert area of Southern California. It is in amazing original condition. It has virtually no rust, one dent and one old repaint.
I was going to build it into a Hemi Dart replica, but realized that this car is simply too nice (and highly optioned) to cut up. So, I bought another 68 Dart hardtop that may not be as nice as this one, but I will have no problem cutting the wheelwells and hammering the right shock tower on it. In fact, I can’t wait to do it. In any case, this Dart has to go.
This GT is a super score as it was a 318, but has already been converted to a strong-running 360 4-barrel engine with an unknown, but kinda-lopey, camshaft, a set of $650 Doug's Headers and an MSD ignition. It has a 904 automatic transmission and a non-posi A-body 8-3/4” rearend (3.55) with big bolt pattern (5x4-1/2”) 10” brakes. Up front, it has been converted to a late-model floating caliper disc brake setup with big bolt pattern (5x4-1/2”). FYI: we all know how much A-body 8-3/4” rearends are going for these days, but you may not realize that this disc brake conversion costs about $500 in parts(!) today. Note: the power brake booster is weak.
Here is how this car came from the factory:

This is a factory air conditioning Dart, so it already had the big radiator (26”) and, being a GT, it has bucket seats with an automatic shifter on the floor. The A/C is disconnected and a compressor with brackets is included. The steering wheel is perfect without a single crack and the dashpad has only one small crack. Oh yeah, the windshield has a big crack and needs to be replaced.
I took as many pics of under the car as I did the top for a good reason: Darts in this condition are gone from Southern California - either they have rust by now (yes, even here in So. Cal.) or they were found a long time ago and shipped out. Finding a ’68 Dart in this condition today is tough. You won’t find a nicer unrestored Dart anywhere. I was going to build this car for myself, so I bought the nicest one I could find. You should, too. Enough said.
The odometer shows 79,000 actual miles. This mileage is correct, was verified by the previous owner and clearly states it on the California title in my name. It runs great. Will work with your shipper. Priced for quick sale for what I have in it: $6750 obo No low-ballers. Tim (626) 716-7780 Monrovia, California.
