Got this from a buddy who insist this was on the keys for his 68 dart he bought new... anyone ever see such a thing?

Yes, those are factory key tags that should be destroyed after adding the key numbers in the owners manual.

Yup, those have the key codes on them so duplicate keys can be made if the originals are lost. Neat to have, but only applies to the original vehicle with the original locks that they came with. Sorta like having a fender tag that didn't come from your car.

I have them for my B body. If you know someone with the dealer key punch machine, you just dial in the number and volia', you have a new key.

Ford used them and I suspect most American manufactures did it has the key codes so the dealer or a locksmith could cut keys if the originals were lost.
