I was at a swap meet yesterday with my neighbour who has several hundred models he has built, mostly NASCAR or short track race cars. He was buying some more models for future builds. He gave me a 1966/67 Charger model for me to build like my current car. I am retiring in the new year so I thought model building might be a good hobby to get back into. In addition to the Charger. I have a 1969 Barracuda kit (to build like my old car) a 1963 Studebaker Avanti, ( I always liked them). I saw this 1969 Charger 500 kit, which I had never seen before, so I decided I would grab it.

I just got back into building models again after about 45 years. The 69 Charger 500 is one of my favorite cars of all time. I would like to get a kit to build myself. I have found, in the cars I've built so far, (13 total) that Revell/Monogram & AMT make pretty good kits & MPC kits are just OK. I just finished the Revell/Monogram 68 Charger model & it's a very challenging build but came out excellent. I highly recommend it. My advice, read & follow the instructions, build them in the order they describe, (for the most part) take your time & don't rush. If you get frustrated, walk away & start where you left off later. It's a good, relaxing hobby & a lot cheaper the building the real thing plus, you can build them how you want. I'm almost finished an AMT 71 Duster 340 (Second one I've done) & next is a Revell Pro Modeler 69 Charger Daytona, another challenging build. Not a cheap hobby but worth every penny IMHO. Have fun.

I am a C500 fan also, and building a real car - clone.

If anyone is looking to build one and can't find the kit, many of the Dukes of Hazzard kits actually had the flush window of the 500 for some reason. I have a model kit of both a 500 and a DOH.

My favorite aero car. I had to have one. It was near perfect, except it was slow. I had to sell it, before starting to modify it....pretty hard.

Back when there was no Daytona model, at least that I knew of, I made one out of a General Lee, that was actually a Charger 500.

Then I junked it along with my 65 el Camino.
