Ok I am putting my 1969 Dart Gt back together. I have 2 grills. The one that is in better shape is painted different than the one that is not so good, which I believe to be the original grill. Did the different trim levels of Darts in 1969 have the grills painted different? One grill has most of the bars painted black, while the other only has the vertical bars, between the horizontal sections painted black.
The first two have only the vertical bars painted. There is no paint at all on any of the horizontal areas.
The 2nd two pictures are typical of what I have seen on "GT" cars and most of the grill is painted except for an outline, for lack of a better word.
What gives?

And no, neither one is for sale.

Yes, I've seen many different paint combinations/schemes on '68 and '69 grilles. Typically, the standard Darts (non GT/GTS) had the verticals painted black and horizontals left alone. This kind of gave the grille more of a chrome look than black--my '68 Dart 270 grille used to look like this. I changed this scheme to the GTS style by blacking out 6 horizontals on each side of the grille and headlight bezels. I think it gives the car a much more aggressive look. I like the second grille (photo's 3 & 4) that you posted.
