Would like to hear from those that have actually measured how far down the piston is in the cylinder on a bone stock 1971 m.y. 318 2bbl.

I know generally that it can be .060 and sometimes as much as .080.

Looking for definitive information here, not just hearsay or urban legend. I want real numbers!

I don't have a deck bridge (yet) or I would do it myself.

Thanks!

Probably ture, but for a comprao....I'll measure my 318 later. I think it a '73, not sure.

My engine was a '71

My decks were uneven, but mine measured about .110 in the hole. I had thought about messing with the motor for fun, but after seeing that, bailed on the idea.

My pistons did not have valve reliefs, don't know if that is unusual or not.

The last '71 318 I had ended up with Chevy pistons in it and the decks were cut. It was a confusing mess for a newbie...lol. I think the '74 I did get to play with was around .060 down, but that was before I was really measuring that stuff.
