Looking for a 1971-72 Engine or at least the block with a casting date of late 1971(Oct-Dec) or January 1972. My car was built in Jan 1972, so November or December 1971 would be ideal. Price Range, Free to ??? :finga: Fair market value, and condition/completeness will dictate how much I am willing to spend. I am willing to travel or ship for the right block, and if the original VIN stamp is 2B292129, you will be my new best friend :) I would prefer STD core pieces, no offense to anyone or their machine shop, but I like to do my own if possible.

I have a 71 360 in the machine shop now uncut , yet will go .030 the crank is in gr8 shape uncut , the piston and rings are on the way this week kb107.030 I have new eagle rods , and the rest of the engine sitting on a cart waiting to get the work started as soon as the pistons and rings arrive or right after labor day. I sold the upper end to go with all aftermarket .When it was all put together I was going to pull my 69 340 drop in the 360 and have the 340 stroked to a 416 .i know what it took me to get this far as I am 2 years and 1 month behind my goal but that is because I bought an other 2 65 barracuda"s and been thru hell with my back before I ever got started. I wont give anything away,but may be willing to sell 1 or the other for the right price or get the 360 bored.030 and built and sell you my 340 for 1800.00 to 2100.00 you can come see run yet,but it is a 69 engine that was bored years ago. pm me if interested in talking I am next to Madison wisc 53590
 
It sounds like you have some great plans! I appreciate the offer and it is very fair, but I am goin to try and find a block with correct casting dates for my car.
 
I have a complete engine but i believe its a 70 sitting in my parents garage. I'll check the dates but i seem to remember it has the X heads but i got it as part of a trade for the sale of one of my cars. So some of the details are a bit fuzzy at the moment
 
Got a 10/71 Fresh .030 over new cam bearings and mains were line honed w ARP main studs. Going to be a 416 unless someone needs it for the date.
 
Thanks for the replies everyone. I would be interested in any blocks from the last half of 1971, if any of the 3 you have are in that range, please let me know!

Did you ever find a block? I have a tanked and mag'd block will need a .030 bore. Numbers are.. Drivers front pad: HM340R 37000187
Pass side pad: 2A119682
The cast numbers by the mount boss: 6 17 71
Clock like stamping points to 2ish
Casting number : 2780930-340-8
