here is how i mounted the striker pads on the hood. As you can see with the hood pins i have a nut on top that sandwhiches the lanyard then another nut which sandwhiches the hood pin to the body with a third nut. I tried using springs on the pins so that when i took the R-keys off the hood would lift up a little to make it easy to lift the hood off. Unfortunately the springs were either too stiff or to light so i went with a rubber hose to get the hood the ideal height.
