Glad you found it. Are you going to seal the bolts and use it?
Not going to use that head right now, I have plan B at the machine shop right now.
This head has some of the best porting I have ever seen, but I don't like those pedestal at all.
I need to come up with a good solution.
 
I also worked on the throttle bracket today.
It was cantilevered and I wanted to take all the flex out of it.
Steel rod from bracket to the fuel log mount.

Can you epoxy in some studs?
Maybe, problem is the threads are not exactly 90 degree, some have a little lean to them.
I was thinking about threading some Allen set screws down and cementing them in.
Then I can run bolts down and not worry about water coming in.
Not sure the best solution right now.
 
The easy to see one is 5/8 till it hits water.
I am thinking mcmaster carr studs and opening the rocker shaft holes maybe to the next drill size.
That should allow it to clear the studs going on.
I talked with Will and he mentioned with his roller he has very high spring pressures.
It makes it a challenge pulling down the rocker shaft.
His torque on those bolts are around 70 Lbs.
Mine are at 25-30 so pulling a thread out is a distinct possibility.

But since I robbed the spring stuff for the head at the shop, this will be a project for the summer.
 
You can check the depth of the others with a piece of wire with a 90 degree bend on the end. Hook it under the bottom of the bolt hole and mark it to measure. I do think studs are your only answer.
 
I used the wire deal, they are all about .6 inches except the last one which is .9 and doesn't go into water.
 
I guess I didn't understand the set screw idea, but you only seem to have barely enough thread depth to hold a stud.
 
Picked up my head from the shop today.
Man prices have gone through the roof.
Glad I took all my parts and just needed machine work.
But I am very happy with the work and how it turned out.
50 thousand cut, so now the head is cut .100.
Bronze wall guides, 11/32 stem valves.
1.78 Intake, 1.50 Exhaust.
4 Angle Valve Job and some bowl work.
Chambers measure out at 44 C.C.
 
Back at it after Eclipse friends left.
I had hoped to get it started today, but just ran out of me.
But I do like the way that ARP Lube works, head pulled down so nice.
I clean all the extra goop off so it doesn't run all inside the engine.
It's hard to clean.
Maybe tomorrow I will get it started.

k.. sounds great but that start upsets me..i had to twist my dist twice to get mine to fire up.... :( and only one shot at a first start..
