1974 L Code 360 Duster 4 speed with Moon Roof

-
This is my brother Jake’s car. I will work on it with him and bring it back to its glory. I’m so glad we picked it up it is in good hands.

We pulled the heads as the valve train was stuck from sitting for 31 years. Standard bore stock dished bottom end. It is unreal how unmolested this car is. Jake and I work together on Thursday evenings and we like to call it “church”.

Does anyone know what the YUU code is in the top right of the build sheet? It appears this car was ordered as a dealer promotional car which makes sense. I can’t find anything on what the U stands for in the top right.

U in the top right means it was made to US specifications. C= Canadian specifications and I= International/export market (like Europe).

I can’t quite make out the scheduled production date on the build sheet. What does the fender tag say? Reason I ask is the instrument panel/cluster appears to be a 1975 since it has the two idiot lights to the left of the speedometer. I suspect your Dart could be a late build 1974 and got a 75 instrument cluster? Perhaps yours was made in June/July 1974?

Something to consider defeating is the seatbelt interlock…. They were nothing but trouble for 1974 which is why it was only a 1 year product.

Awesome find and keep us updated on the progress!!

There are 2 yellow wires you can swap on the interior side of the bulkhead connector that defeats it and is completely invisible. Pretty easy to do.

Two instrument cluster bezels were used in 1974.
3592670 with seat belt warning light used up to 1-22-74.
3592959 with seat belt warning light and egr warning light were used after 1-22-74.
The 3592959 continued in the 1975 model year.

Built for US-Specs

My Duster has on this position an 'I' - built for international specs (export car)

Just Wanted to say Congradulations!
What a Great Car. Sunroof, 360,
4-speed, rare color, original paint, build sheet, and it’s in very good condition…
It doesn’t get any better.
Nice to see it’s being rescued.

Update on the Moon Duster. Jim and I have been digging in. Pretty amazing how un touched this car has been for so many years. We got the transmission to shift into N and that is what was holding the crank. The engine turns over freely. Slowly working on getting the wearable items addressed and the engine pulled for tear down and cleaning.

I bought a 74 Challenger new that was that same Dark Moonstone. It looked really dark brown but had a red glow where the sun reflected on it.

One thing that may be even more rare is if your car has a sunroof without the fold down rear seat if that is the case with your car. I have seen folding rear seat cars without the sunroof and more cars that have both but maybe only one or two cars in pictures that only have a sunroof.

And congratulations!

This car is a sun roof car with a stationary back seat. Not the “convertripal”
