My 1975 Scamp left rear is 1 and 1/4 inches lower than the right rear, as measured at the rear bumper. It's completely stock - never been modified, 50K original miles, and looks like the original shocks. Is this more apt to be a bad shock on the left side, or does my left rear leaf spring need to be re-arched, or is it something else?? Has anyone seen a single side leaf sag and not the other side? My experience is that both sag the same amount. Thanks!

sometimes mine sits funny if the ground isnt flat. my car supposedly had 30k on it and was all stock when i got it, but my torsion bars had to be tightened unevenly to get the front to sit level when i rebuilt the front end. someone told me that could be because of the rear springs sagging differently. but i thought they would sag the same. maybe from just having a driver in it over the years. might lean to the left. who knows.

does the front sit level? i dont think so. with the car sitting on a flat surface, measure the highest point of each wheel well, if the left rear is low then i would bet that the right front is high. you can crank in the left fron tbar which will push the right rear down. you should be able to even it out. im sure someone else will kick in and maybe have a better idea.

It happened to me way back when I had a scamp and all I did was buy some cheap spring boosters that put more pressure on as you tighten them and I simply tighened the left one more than the right.

sweatybetty - you're right. The right front is almost an inch higher than the left front. I'm going to try the torsion bar adjustment. Do you think I can lower the right front to match the left front and get the left rear to come up too? As I look up at the torsion bar adjuster bolt, which way do I turn the adjuster bolt to lower the height - cw or ccw? Thanks!

ccw will lower.
cw will raise the front.
I just had to do this to the demon, as the one side in the front sat higher than the other.

Thanks Mopower71 - how much of a ccw turn should I give it to lower about 3/4/inch?? Should I drive it a bit between adjustments to let it settle in??

you can turn the boly out a few turns then just bounce the bumpers up and down a few times to settle it. driving it would work too. itll take a few tries to get it right

FIXED!!!!!:cheers::cheers:. I took out about 1.5 turns ccw to lower the right front, and everything aligns perfectly!! Just for reference, measured from the top of the front and back wheel wells, dead center with the wheel hubs: Fronts: 25 3/8" Rears: 21 1/2". This is with 195 75 14's all around. AWESOME!!!!
