Currently there are zero standalone plug and play systems available for a magnum. You can make a megasquirt system work but if you are leaving the engine stock it’s not necessary. Just run the factory ecu and efi.

Just so you know, that motor isn't out of a '91 Ram. It might be in one, but that is a '92-95 5.2 (318). The '91 would (I think) have been TBI and that motor is a Magnum that wasn't released until later.

Maybe you know that, just didn't want you to get tripped up trying to getting it running because you had some incorrect info. Just trying to help.

Ok i was told motor was out of a 1991 due to serial info on computer so thanks for setting me straight. I have this engine in a late 60s truck i got that way as a project that never ran due to harness not squared out. It has the transmission attached to it from that same 90s vehicle. So i am just trying to get it running without braking bank.

I would argue that the cheapest way to get it running is to finish the Magnum swap someone else started. I would start by researching "Magnum swaps" and see if you can figure out what is missing.

Second idea is to try and swap a carb onto the motor and get rid of the EFI. It will probably mean you will have to control the OD transmission manually or get some pressure switches, but not an impossible job. That is assuming you don't have a '96 or later motor with the electronically (RE) controlled transmission in which case you pretty much need to keep the PCM.

Your info on the computer would suggest you have a hydraulically (RH) controlled trans, but probably best to verify first.

I guess i need to try and find a wiring diagram to see if i can figure out what was done or missing. Alot has been done to truck just wasn't started due to previous person not having idea how to get wiring situated. I will get under truck and look at trans and see what's on there. Thx?

Are the ECM connectors on the harness that is in there, that is currently connected to the engine?
Does this engine have an EGR valve at the rear of the intake on right side?
Can you post a picture of the ECM you have showing the connectors?
OBD1 will have a single large connector. OBD2 will have three smaller connectors.

Definitely OBD1. Not programmable but easy to use as a stand alone.
How about EGR valve as asked previously?

Arnie....since it is OBD1, I just remembered something that might help you. There is a member here that used to convert the Magnum OBD1 harnesses for people, at a reasonable price. His user name is 393foureyedfox, if you want to shoot him a pm to see if he still does it. He was last online here in June of this year. I'll tag him so maybe he will get a notification and see this. @393foureyedfox

You're welcome. He's not on here much, but if he gets thread notifications maybe he will jump on to see what's up. Good luck. :)
