after buying my B-cuda in 2001, at 15 years old, I am finally making some headway. @ years ago I setout to redo the interior as it was falling apart. Last year I stripped it down and somehow I have found time to get the rust out and now finally start reassembly.

Looks like a really nice, solid car. What's the plan, keep it stock-ish?

Thank you. Yup the plan is restor it as close to stock as possible while still keeping it fun. Im painting it Plum Crazy Purple and adding tunes but trying to keep the stock look. So far not too many other changes, though as you see some of the chrome interior is being painted for a model and cheaper than re-chroming look.

Great work so far. Your helper is a real sweetie. I bet dad is proud of her. Keep posting lots of pics. We like to see all forms of progress; even if it might not seem like much to you. For instance, I liked seeing the masking job on the console. It shows that you have a good level of detail. Keep up the good work.

Keep at it. Looks like a solid car. Im going on year 6 with mine. finishing one of these projects takes patience.

Thanks guys.
Yup my helpers are pretty great. When I bought it at 15, I certainly never thought my 7 and 3 year old daughters would be helping me restore it 2 decades later.

I'm still in the reassembly phase so I will add sound deadening inside the door where I can reach. I also need to redo some seals on the firewall, including the wipers (someone else's tip for when the dash is out). But getting the dash and windshield in and having it run again is getting close.

Unfortunately my uphostry is still 8 months out so the old seats will be going back in for the time being and foam will have to sit on the shelf till winter.

Any tips for finishing up the headliner are welcome, this is my first attempt and I'm glad I managed it ok and didn't have to pull the rear window.

Thanks guys

Looks great! I love that you have an awesome little helper right there with you!!! Keep posting pics of your progress!

Hey guys (and gals?)
Before I install my dash I'm told to reinstall the wiper gaskets. I have them and triex to tackle it. How does it come apart? Am I missing something or do I just need more muscle?

Great work! What did you use to clean your center console? What type of paint did you use when you put it back in?

Getting the last few things done around the firewall, before the dash and the windshield go back in. Thanks for the tip about the windshield wiper gaskets while the dash is out (who ever that was).

And had some help with the steering wheel.

On the chrome I used a brass brush. I used jb weld on the hole in the top and the sanded, taped and spray painted. I can find the paint can but it was nothing special.

For the main portion of the console I bought a black one off a guy on here. Epoxyed and sanded some cracks inside the console. Then I brushed off the sides (I wanted to keep the texture) and painted it with plastic spray paint and a clear coat. The hard part for the console was getting the cigarette lighter mounted right and working with the studs that had broken off the top.

Finally have some time and all the upholstery from legendary. Got started but ran out of hog rings, as I way under estimated what I needed. More on order.

I tried 5 layers of cotton on the seat back, we will see if I over did it.

Next week it will be time to stretch the covers and see.

Progress made...

Driver's seat disassembly soon then a couple more afternoons and it should in in too.

Anyone looking to learn from my mistakes.
-5 layers of cotton on the rear bench top was too much.
-dont forget the metal backing for the bench top and hog ring the vinyl to the frame then realized you have to undo that and pull the vinyl to the tabs on the metal backing.
- try to compair rear bench top and bottom and get the seems to line up, I'm not sure how and clearly I didn't get it, front seat seemed easier to line up.
-us a trash bag between the foam and the cover for the front buckets seats.
-take your time, measure more times than you cut and good luck.

Unfortunately the ledgedary videos leave somethings out for this car but it can be mostly pieces together from what is available.

Last of the upholstery done. Added floor mats to try to keep the new carpet clean. And now working on the stereo and starting to pull at the electrical project string...

Those white seats look great, I love a white interior.
My Duster is white, I never did understand why people do theirs in black, too hot in the summer.
