question 1: soo we got an 8 3/4 rearend for my friends 70 dart. which was before a 7 1/4. it was a slant six now has a 360 with a 904. now the question is, the drive shaft that went to the smaller rear will not work with the bigger rear right?? what size driveshaft should i use??

question 2: In My duster im soon to be dropping in a 383 stroker with a 4spd . as of now it has a 360 /727 8 3/4 rear. i hear my current driveshaft will not hook up to the a833 and 8 3/4 rear?? is this true. What drive shaft can i use and where can i find one???Thank You

I figured with the stable of modified cars you have that you'd be the expert on conversions!! You basically have to match u-joint sizes or use the conversion joints for the actual hookup. If you install an 8 3/4 in place of a 7 1/4, or if you install a 727 in place of a 904 or A-body manual trans, you'll have to shorten the existing driveshaft. B and E body 4 speeds will use the same driveshaft as a 727. The A-body 4 speeds will use the same driveshaft as a 904, 903, or 250. You'll have to match yokes to the type of trans you're using. 903, 904, 250, and the '66-7 A833 transmissions all had 25 spline yokes and they only came from the factory with a 2 1/8 u-joint so if you're using the 2 5/8 u-joints, it's conversion joint time or maybe an aftermarket billet yoke? The 29 spline yokes (727, A833, 230, 390) came both ways. They also made a Dana 60, Imperial/Chrysler C/V joint version had their own special yoke and u-joint.
Thanks, Mark

how about the length of the driveshaft?? This will be my. Actual first conversion since the cuda came factory with the big rear and my duster had a big rear already installed when I. Got it. I plan on doing this conversion to the 73 dust and 69 dart as well. But not sure about the length
