I have the dist. from the donor engine apart to clean it and put in new nylon bushingetc.( 1976 360) I found the two mechanical advance springs are different sizes. 1. Is this normal? 2. If it is, why? Will look at a better dist. some day. Want to get the car(66 Barracuda) running so I can start having some fun.
Thanks,
Mike

That's normal for a stock distributor.

Recurve kits (about $5 at your favorite local performance shop) have different springs in the package, various sizes to get different rpm/advance rates. The lighter the springs, the faster your engine will achieve full advance.

The kits usually come with a instruction sheet, specifying which springs to use to get advance at "x" rpm
