Hi

It is not an "A Body" but I was looking for some input. My son is looking to buy a 2008 Dodge Avenger STX, with less that 30K Mi. on it. Any one own one? Do you like it? Have you had any problems. The one he is looking at is a V6, I would guess the 2.4L. I would apreciate any input.

Thanks

If it is a v6 it would be the 2.7, the 2.4 would be the four cylinder and in all honesty the better of the two. The 2.7 has a bad reputation because of oil coaking issues. If the oil hasn't been changed on a regular basis which buying a used car you never really know, it causes sludge build up which leads to oil starvation which leads to a blown motor. I would stay away from the 2.7. That's my two cents worth.

I would agree about the 2.7 if it were a 2001 or older. Chrysler got that straightned out in the later years.

Ok here is your feedback.
I own a '08 Avenger sxt. I have the 2.4 (4 cylinder) version. Over all the car is pretty decent little car. The fuel mileage is amazing in the four cylinder as I get 37 mpg on the highways and 33 or so in town. They are not luxary cars nor should they be treated as such. They are a little noisey with road noise and creaks and sqwaks.. but overall its been a good experience.
Now... input from working at a Dodge dealership. The v6 version is just as good except with a lot less mpg. However a lot more oomph when you stab the pedal. Their has been some trans issues in the V6 versions, but that all seems to be taken care of in service bulletins and updates. If everything was updated by the previous owner then the car should be good to go.
I like the size of the car. Good midsize and easy to drive. It seems to track well in weather conditions wet to icey. The interior are pretty good but plagued with the hard plastic cold feel. You should see the new 2011 Chrylser products !! They are 1000000 % better on the interiors.. very nice and comfortable.
Hope that helps a bit. If you have further questions pop me a note....
